CASING HANGER.
Application filed February 13. 1928. Serial No. 254,110.
This invention relates generally to warm air furnaces and refers particularly to means for hanging inner liners to the outer "asings of such furnaces.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a casing hanger tor supporting and spacing an inner liner from its outer casing and to so construct the hanger that it will withstand undue strains and stresses.
lVith these and other objects in view the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts aswill be hereinafter more nlly described and particularly pointed ont in the appended claims.

Figure 3 is a vertical section oit the hanger with the casing and inner liner in operative position.
In the accompanying drawings wherein like characters otl reference designate like parts, the numeral 1 indicates a warm air furnace, 2 the outer casing theretor and 3 an inner liner spaced from the casing so as to provide an insulating air space. In order to adequately support the inner liner 3 and space the saine from the easing 2. there are provided hangers l positioned adjacent the bottom of the liner and casing spreaders 5 located at the top portions thereof.
As shown.` the outer c; sing Q is composed of upper and lower sections G and T, respectively having a central casing ring 8 interposed therebetween which supports the inner liner hangers 4. These hangers are adapted to be hung at spaced intervals Jfrom the casing ring S in suilicient quantities to adequately support the inner liner and uni ormly space the same from the casing Each hanger consists of an elongated body 9 which, when placed in position. lies in close proximity to the inner face ot the cas ing 2. As shown, the npper end ot' the body 9 terminates in a hooked portion 10 which is adapted to be hung over the central casing ring 8 for supporting the hanger in place.
The lower end of the hanger is provided with an inwardly extending diagonal portion 11 having an upwardly extending flange 12 cooperating therewith to torni a wedge shape opening adapted to receive the lower edgelot the. inner liner 8. The flange 12 is provided with a closed return bentportion 13 winch is in turn provided with a laterally p'roJecting fiange 14 terminating in substantially the plane ot the elongated body portion 9 and adapted to abut the inner 'face of the casing` 7 tor spacing the inner liner 3 'from the casing.
n lVith the inner liner in position as shown in Figure 1 it will be apparent that any und ae weight or strain imposed upon the lower end ot the hanger will not eil'ect a separation of the parts forming the wedge shape opening but will merely tend to toreo the portions 11 and 12 into iirnier contact with the portions 13 and 14 and to force the lateral flange 11 into firmer engagement with the inner face of the casing 7. Thus it will be apparent that the hanger ot the present invention presents a strong and durable construction adapted to adequately withstand the weight imposed thereon by an inner liner. y
lVhile it is believed that from the foie going description, the nature and advantage ot our invention will be readily apparent, we desire to have itunderstood that we do not limit ourselves to the specific constrin'tion herein shown and described and thaty such changes may be resorted to when desired as ,tallwithin the scope ot what is claimed. lVhat we claim as our invention is:
1. A hanger for the inner liner ot a i'urnace casing comprising a. body provided with an inwardly offset portion having a flange projecting upwardly theretreni and cooperating therewith to torni an opening adapted to receive the lower edge et the inner liner, said upwardly projecting flange being provided with a return bent portion having a. laterally projecting flange adapted to engage the casing for spacing the inner liner from said casing.
2. A hanger for the inner liner o'ii a turnace casing comprising a body provided with a laterally offset por ion adapted to receive the lower edge ot the inner liner, the lower end portion of said hanger ex- Es PATENT OFFICE.

3. A hanger for the inner liner of a furnace casing; comprising;r an elongated body adapted to engage the inner face of said casing provided with an inwardly extendingr offset portion adapted to receive the lower edge of the inner liner, the low fr end portion of said hanger extending laterally outward from said inwardly offset portion and beingr adapted to engage the inner face of the casingr for spacing' `the inner liner therefrom.
4. A hanger for the inne;` liner of a furnace casing having an elongated body adapted to engage Vthe inner face of said casing and provided with an inwardly extendingT diagonal portion having,Y an upwardly e1;- tending;r flange cooperating therewith to fern'. an openingadapted to receive the lower edge of the inner liner, said upwardly extending flange being provided with a return bent portion having an outwardly projecting flange adapted to engage the inner face of the easingr for spacingr the inner liner :r rom said casing.
5. A hanger .tor the inner liner of a fur-` nace casing having an elongated body adapt` ed to engage the inner face of said easing and provided with an inwardly extending diagonal portion having;r an upwardly extending,r flange cooperating therewith to forni a wedge-shaped opening adapted to receive the lower edge of tl said upwardly extending flange being provided with a return bent portion havingn horizontal flange projecting outwardly he low the aforesaid diagonal portion and terminating in substantially the plane of the elongated body for spacing the inner liner from the easing.
