FOLDED SHEETS OF MATERIAL.

The invention relates-to improvements in a folded tissue or thin paper sheets for use as napkins, towels, toilet paper or the like, and to a s.-..ck o1- pile of peculiarly folded 5 individual thin paper sheets having predetermined size in accordance with the holder therefor.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a stack or pile of paper sheets, in in which the several superposed sheets are arranged independently and separate from each other, but which engage one with the other during the removing or discharging operation, so that the lowermost sheet of the stack or pile is always accessible and can bereadily grasped for the removal thereof from the holder, without liability of the tearing of the sheet or the next sheet adjacent thereto.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended. In the accompanying drawings: Figure l, is a perspective view of a serving cabinet in which the folded sheets of material constructed in accordance with the in vention are contained.

Figure 3, is a perspective view of one of the individualized folded sheets of material.

Figure 4, is a View similar to Figure 3, of another individualized folded sheets of material.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.

Referring to the drawings in detail, A, designates generally a suitable cabinet for containing the stack or pile of paper sheets from which the same may be delivered singly and successively, and wherein the removal of one sheet causes the next succeeding sheet to be moved to position for its extraction from the cabinet, as said sheet may be readily taken hold of and withdrawn.

The cabinet A, comprises a body 10, preferably made from sheet metal, although the same may be constructed from any other suitable material, and has formed in one wall thereof medially of the same a slot 11, which is disposed longitudinally of said wall and at each end intersects a semi-circular shaped notch 12, formed in the end wall 13, the edges of the slot 11, next to the notch 12, being rounded at 14, so as to prevent any possibility of the paper sheets becoming torn when be ing extracted from the cabinet on withdrawing said sheets, as will be hereinafter fully described.

It is to be understood that changes and variations may be made in the cabinet as come properly within the scope of the claims hereunto appended, without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

In the cabinet A, is adapted to be stacked or piled a series of superimposed paper sheets C, or D, each being hereinafter more fully describe The paper sheet 0, shown in Figure 3, of the drawings, is first folded on a median line; thence again folded along a median line at right angles to the first named fold, and finally folded at each end along parallel lines to form tabs 20, these being folded on the same side of the body of the sheet. The tabs 20, are exposed at the slot 11, in the cabinet A, when the sheets are stacked or piled therein in superimposed relation to each other.

The sheet D, shown in Figure 4:, of the drawings, is foldedalong a median line, then again folded at each endalong parallel lines, and finally folded transversely along a median line as at 21, relative to the parallel folds, to provide tabs 22, which lie on the same side of the body, so that this folded sheet can be reversed and the tabs 22,.at all times will be exposed, as will be apparent.

It will be obvious that when the sheets C, or D, are stacked or piled'in the body of the cabinet A, they will not interlock with each other, and can be individually withdrawn through the slot 11, from within the cabinet A, without liability of the tearing on the next succeeding sheet.

Within the body of the cabinet A, is a follower plate 23, against which acts a coiled expansion spring 24, the latter being connected to the removable section 25, of the said cabinet, and to the follower plate 23, and in this manner the stack or pile of sheets are kept compact and advanced within said cabinet,

the follower being disposed against the uppermost sheet of the stack or pile placed in said cabinet as will be clearly apparent.

What is claimed is:

1. An element for use in a dispensing package, wherein the folded sheets are superimposed one upon the other, comprising the following structure, namely a sheet of paper comprising a body folded to form a plurality of tabs at the same side of the sheet and overlapping the body of said sheet, said tabs being in contact with the same side surface of the sheet, the body and tabs being further folded on a transverse line, whereby the body will be surrounded by the tabs and the latter will be exposed at opposite sides of said folded body.

2. An element for use in a dispensing package, wherein the folded sheets are superimposed one upon the other, comprising the following structure, namely, a body folded to form a plurality of tabs at the same side of the sheet and overlapping the body of said sheet, said tabs being in contact with the same side surface of the sheet, the body and tabs being further folded on a transverse line whereby the body will have two sets of exposed tabs on opposite sides thereof.
