T v i Jesse B. LANGDON, or LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR T0 rAnenon ENGINEER- ING CORPORATION, or LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
FLUID-PRESSURE BOOSTER;
Application filed November 14, 1927. Serial No. 233,269.
The primary object of my invention is the provision of means for increasing the pressure delivery of fluid by the'use' of a hammer blow.
Another object of myinvention is to pro videa combination with a hammer actuated booster of means to prevent the distortion of the operating parts by the hammer blows V changed to suit the exigencies of their use,
and the application or" the invention. I Of the drawing :-The different parts consist of hammer pad 1-, piston rod or piston 2, cylinder 3-, retaining cap 4, main body -5, piston stop 6.
coupling means or lugs 77, check valve. 8 outlet -9, outlet nipple -l0; outlet coupling 11--.
The operation of my device is substan- .tialiy as'follows: The check valve 8 8 is coupled to a pressure fluid delivering device (not shown) by means of coupling lugs- 77', or other convenient attaching means; the fluid entering through valve 8 is forced into cylinder 3 which 'issituated above the level of valve 8, the shoulder 6- always maintaining the iiiston rod 2- at the right distance in l c relation'to valve 8 so that the piston is forced away from shoulder 6-- at all times by the pressure of fluid entering throughvalve 8. The cylinder -3 befilled with fluid forcing the piston rod '2,into hammer pad 1- against retaining cap /i, thus maintaining the device in filled position at all [times as long as the device is attached tothe pressure fluid delivering means. 7
The device is coupled to any object into which it is desired to deliver fluid under pressure, the; coupling means consisting of When the booster has been coupled to the object into whichor through which it is desired to deliver fluid, the. hammer pad 1' is struck a blow with a hammer 'fOIC ing fluid under excessive pressure through outlet 9 at the'same time closing the inlet valve -8- which automatically reopens outlet 7 nipple l0-' and outlet coupling 7 r.
and allows cylinder -3 to refill, thus the device is readyeforanother hammer blow.
Having fully described myinvention and e I that which is new, I claim:
1. A fluid pressure boosting device comprising a cylinder, a piston disposed within said cylinder, a hammer pad on one end of said piston, a retaining cap suitably disposed to allow for the movement of said piston in a cylinder body having a cylindertherein, said cylinder being so disposed within said main body that the piston traveling within saidcylinder will at all times allow the entry of fluid under pressure against the end of said piston, together'with a check valved inlet to saidcylinder and an outlet" from said cylinder in combination with means to couple said pressure boosting device to a fluid pressure delivery line and an. object to which it may be desired to deliver fluid by means of said fluid pressure boosting device.
2. In device described in claim 1, 'a I shoulderat oneend of a cylinder to prevent the piston in said cylinder from closing the inlet passage to said cylinder.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
