- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARTER .'B. FIGKLEN, OF FORTBESS MONROE, VIRGINIA.
immon'ron.
Application filed March 23, ms. Serial No. 264,092.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in indicators generally, al-
though more particularly to an indicator indicating to the players the character of the bids of the different players,
Another object of my invention lies in a card game indicator of the character described which is, provided with bid indicia of such a simple nature as to render the same readily legible and extremely easy of operation.
With these and other objects in view which will "more fully appear, the nature of the invention will be more clearly understood by'following the description, the appended claims, and the several views lllustrated in the accompanying drawings.
1n the accompanying drawings which illustrate one form of my invention:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of an indicator embodylng my invention, and
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
like reference numerals designatecorresponding parts throughout the several fig-- ures of the drawings.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, my invention includes a board A which comprises top and bottom superposed plates 5 and 6 and an intermediate plate 7, which may besecured together by any suitable adhesive or other means.
The upper edge 8 otthe top plate 5 is arcuate and is disposed below and in spaced relation to the upper edge 9 of the bottom plate 6. The intermediate plate 7 is provided with a segmental recess having radial ittli walls 10 '10,-the recess being located centrally below the top part of the upper plate 5 and opening towards the top of the board.
The board A is provided with bid indicia which includes a series of trick indicia B and a series of trump indicia C, which are common to the card games known as bridge and five hundred.
The trick indicia B comprises an arouate series of consecutive numbers ranging from 1 to 10 of which the numbers 1 to 7 indicate the range of trick bids in bridge from minimum to maximum, and the numbers 6 to 10 indicate the range of trick bids in five hundred from minimum to maximum. This series of trick indicia is,located on the bottom plate di-- rectly above the upper arcuate edge 8 of the top plate 5, and directly above the se mental recess of the intermediate plate The trump indicia comprises an arcuate series of trump indicatingdata such as therepresentatmns of a club, a diamond, a heart and a spade, as well as other data such as No bid, No trumps, Pass, Double, and Redouble. This trump indicia is located on the upper portion of the top plate 'and parallels the arcuate upper edge 8 thereof. Consequently the trump indicia C is located directly below the trick indicia B.
Journaled on an axis formed by a rivet 11 or the like, are threepointers 12, 13 and 14:, the axis or rivet 11 being concentric with the upper edge 8, and the trick indicia B and the trump indicia C. The pointers 12 and 13 are mounted to oscillate above the top plate 5 and cooperate with the trump indicia. The pointer 14 is mounted to oscillate within the recess of the intermediate plate 7, and its limit of oscillation is defined by the side or radial walls -10, the angular relation of which embraces the trick indicia B.
The top board is also provided with bridge score indicia Dand-five hundred score indiciaE.
From the foregoing, it will be readily understood that my invention is es ecially adapted for card games known as ridge and five hundred for the purpose of indi cating the bid of each player in succession whereby all players will be constantly informed of the last bid made-by the players.
It is of course to be understood that the details of structure and arrangements of parts may be variously changed and modified without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
I claim:
In a card game indicator, the combination with a board having a series of trump.
ios
plate, the intermediate plate being provided with a quadrant shaped cut-out portion, and
a pair of pointers fulcrumed on a common axis on said board for cooperation with the trump and trick indicia respectively,
one of said pointers being movable in the cut-out portion of the intermediate plate.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
CARTER B. FICKLEN.
