Door lifting devices have also been built in,
which the door is seized by .a lever system and tangentially swung upward. This arrangement, however, has the disadvantage that the door is brought into positions other than those which it normally assumes during use. This results in exposing it on the one hand, to a greater extent to the effect of detrimental gases and vapors, and alsoin affecting the fireproof lining of the door.
The invention concerns a door lifting device for the customary coke oven doors lying flat in front of the chamber opening, and in particular for such as are made in accordance with the applicants German Letters Patent 516,701, by means of which the door is also seized and swung by a lever" mechanism. In order to make it possible, however, to retain permanently the vertical position of the door, the movement of the door is effected with the aid of a parallel link motion in such a way that the door is seized at two places by the lever mechanism and is then lifted upward parallel to itself and swung from out of the oven frame. Since in this arrangement the claws for lifting the door can be immediately brought into engagement with the door in the direction oft-he subse quent lifting movement, the claws can be used directly for releasing the door fastenings, by causing bolts rotatively attached to the door to be lifted out of their catches or strikes which are fastened to the oven frame.
In order to make the invention more clearly understood there are shown in the accompanying drawings means for carrying the same into practical effect, without limiting the invention to the details, which are illustrative and can be varied without depart ing from the invention. In said drawings Figure 1 is a side view of an oven'door opener embodying the invention.

Once properlyadjusted, the eccentrics s are permanently set.

moving on, by means of the upward and circular movement of the levers d and as the supporting member 9 is provided with spaced members 2 that rotatably bear in the apertures s of the swinging means (levers (Z), which apertures are in the same vertical plane, the -supporting member d is raised upward and outward and always is disposed in a vertical position by reason of the bearings sliding over the surface of the material around the apertures 8. Such arrangement of mechanism will lift the door and swing it upward and outward without the door meanwhile leaving its vertical position because of the spaced member 2 being rotatably supported in the apertures s in the swinging means. The support 9 serves as an intermediate element in order to smoothly carry out the necessary turning which would be impracticable at the places where, the claws -h/t go into action. With the doorlilted and swung out of the oven frame (1, the frame Z) and whole device can then be moved aside in order thus to completely eX- pose the chamber opening. The closing is accomplished in reverse order, in which operation, as soon as the claws 7th are no longer in engagement with them, the bolts 00 automatically drop into place again behind the strikes p.
