This invention relates primarily to steadying devices for flag standards or poles, similar to that included in petition for Letters Patent for brackets filed with the Commissioner of Patents, at Washington, D. C. on April, 12th, 1927, Serial Number 183,129, in behalf of Robert B. Peters, the inventor thereof.
Another object of this invention comprehends an annular flange member fitted with ball or roller bearings which is rigidly secured to the flag standard or pole by fastening elements.
More specifically stated this annular flange member is provided with cut out portions in the side walls extending therethrough to receive the flag halyards therein.
An additional feature of the invention consists of a ring rotatably mounted within the'guide channel of the flange member, the ends of whichare appreciably spaced to permit the ingress and egress of the halyards within the cut out portions when the space between the ends thereof register with the cut out portions. The ring is provided with arms on the outer surface diametrically opposite each other to which are fastened braces, the opposite ends of which are secured to a suitable stationary structure which holds the ring set, though the flange member and the flag standard or pole may rotate without the braces interfering with the halyards. With the above and other objects in view the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 4 indicates an annular-flange member which is rigidly secured to the flag standard or pole by fastening elements 5, received Serial No. 224,183.
through laterally disposed ears 6, secured to and projecting from annular flange member 4. A ring 7 is rotatably mounted within the guide channel provided upon the outer suras face of the annular flange member 4, and is in turn provided with arms 8 upon diametrically opposite sides thereof, and adapted for connection with a suitable stationary structure to steady the pole. In the instance of flying a flag or emblem from the standard or pole, the halyards for the flag or emblem would ordinarily interfere with the rotation of the standard or pole when untangling the flag or emblem. To overcome this difii- 6 culty I provide cut out portions 10 in the side walls of the guide channelof the annular flange member a which are adapted to receive the halyards therein. A ring 7 also rotatably mounted within the guide channel T0 of the flange member at has the ends 11 there of spaced an appreciable distance to permit ingress and egress of the halyards within the cut out portions 10, guided by a lip 12 protruding from the lower end of ring 7, when the space between the ends 11 thereof register with the cut out portions 10.
It will thus be noted that the standard or pole may be rotated to unfurl a flag or emblem but the braces 9 will remain set due to so the aforementioned connection between the annular flange member 4 and the ring 7. The ring 7 will prevent displacement of the halyards.
The invention is susceptible of various 35 changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is hereby reserved to make such changes as proper- 1y fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having claimed is:
