DOOR STRUCTURE FOR DISPLAY CABI ENETS.
Application filed September This invention relates to improvements in door structures for display cabinets. It relates particularly to an improved track structure and door combination for such doors 5 as appear particularly in my Patent No.
1,025,350, issued May 7, 1912.
Objects pertaining to details and economies of construction and operation will de[i nitely appear from the detailed description to follow. Y.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claim.
A structure which is a. preferred. embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this application, in which:
Fig. 1 is a detail perspective view of one oi the door structures in a display case like that described in my said former patent.
Fig. 2'is an enlarged detail of the lower track member and door, taken on line 22 of Fig. 1 looking down, the door being shown closed in full lines and partially open like Fig. 1 in dotted lines.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1, just above the top track structure showing the relative superposed position of the top track and bottom track, with the door shown in full lines partially open and dotted in the closed position. I
Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken on line 44 of Fig. 2 showing the structure" of double-roller bearing ball on which the door is carried.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken on line 55 of Fig. 2 showing the carrying revolving pin traveling in the first section of the lower track.
Fig. 6 is-an enlarged detail sectional view taken on line 6-6 of Fig. 3, showing one of the top bearing pins disposed in the top of the door.
In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines.
The parts will be identified by their nu- All 8, 1925. Serial No. 55,071.
merals of reference. 1 is an open front dis play case, likethat appearing in my "former patent. It has a base 2 and top 8 and a door 4, all similar to those shown in my former patent. The bottom track for carrying this door is made up of two members. 5 is a straight channel groove member oftrack on the base of the case just inside the inner end wall and parallel thereto. 6 is a curved track member for accommodating and carrying the door when it is swung to the closed position and disposed toguide it and swing it to the end of the case when opened. The inner end of the door is carried by a vertical revolving pin 41, of the design of pin appearing in my said former patent and detailed in Fig. 5. Offset on the front of the door is a ball bearmg case 42 having a double roller ball bearing 43 like that appearing in my former patcut, to travel in the auxiliary curved portion 6 of the track for carrying the door around to and from the front. This is detailed in Fig. 4.
The top track comprises a main member 7 exactly opposed to and corresponding to the track member 5 below. This track has a curved branch 8 corresponding to the curved member 6 below, parallel with but offset from the member 6 of the track below, so that the engaging pin 41 on the top of the door travels within the same without any necessity for an offset support. The branch track 8 coalesces into a Y with the track 7 so that but one track is necessary at the rear.
The guiding is all done by the track 6 below.
The roller pins at the upper edge of the door, one at the inner corner and the other above the supporting double roller ball hearing, are constructed the same as the pin at the corner of the door below, as clearly appears from the illustration in Fig. 6.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a display case with a supporting base and having top and end walls and a swinging sliding door structure, of a door, diametrically opposed upper and lower grooved track at the end of the base and top walls, an auxiliary curved grooved track on said base at the bottom, an-ofi'set double-roller bearing ball carried on the inner side of said door and spaced from its rear edge, said bearing ball traveling in said auxiliary curved portion to carry the main Weight of said door, an upper opposed curved branch track portion, parallel to the auxiliary track, at the top of the door and coalescing by a Y with said upper end tracks, a projecting guiding ball pin member on top of said door opposite said carrying ball for engaging said track and branch, and projecting guide bell pins at the rear upper and lower edges of said door to travel in the end tracks at top. and bottom, coacting as specified.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
LYMAN lV. WELCH.
