HAROLD LEWIS BATTY, OF IFES'J. CRO YDON,
ENGLAND, ASSIGNOR r EASTMAN KODAK GOM PANY, OF ROCHESTER, NEWfYOBK, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
PACKAGE ron rnoroenarrirc mums] Application filed March 29, 1926, Serial No. 98,328, and in Great Britain January 12, 192 6;
carriage of a photograph or other paper or card. The object of the invention is to pmof ordinar construction havin theclosing tabs 2, a h avy folded sheet 3 o paste board, corrugated box board or any other stiflenmg and strengthening material and fitting or to carry in stock a very lar e variety of 30 protruding beyond its edges are turned over 50 the filler sheet'wit-h a mount carried on'each snugly within the envelope and a filler sheet 60 4.- fitting snugly within the envelope and stiffening sheet and carrying the mount, card" or photograph 5.
In\a simple form' this sheet 4 has two cuts 5 or mounts of different sizes. Photograph mounts are made and stocked in a very great varietyof sizes and frequently individual customers or photographers demand or use odd sizes; In transmitting photographs, particularly individual ictures, by mail, it is, of course desirable t at they shall fit within the container and not slip around. It is necessary therefore, either. to wrap up the photographs individually therebetween tabs 7. A card 5 of smaller dimensions than the sheet 4 is placed fl'at upon the card and the portions of the tabs extending beyond it are bent back over the card. In Fig. 2 the card and thebent over 70 portions of the tab are indicated in dotted ers for the various sizes and even then to lines. The filler .and mount are then to wrap up separately odd sized mounts. gether placed within the folded heavy sheet I have overcome this difiiculty by provid- 3 and this assemblage placed within the ening an outfit capable of taking cards orwvelope 1. 1 75 mounts of any dimensions within certain The edges and corners. of the mount are limits, by providing a sheet of stiff paper, well within the edges of'thef package and flexible cardboard, or other suitable material, securely protected. The pressure of the enthe outer dimensions of which are such as velope and protective sheet hold the tabs to fit snugly within a standard container, bent down upon the card which thus can not and having tabs or flaps, preferabl inteshp or slide within the envelope. gral therewith, -and adapted to be fol ed. A In Fig. 3, the tabs have beveled corners 7 mount of any size smaller than the filler is thus the more readily permitting the use of placed thereon 'and'the portions of the tabs the filler with small cards, over which the tabs would otherwise overlap. Y
In Fig. 4 is shown a form of filler sheet 10 having single tabs 11 formed at its ends, twotabs 12 formed'on each'side and two tabs 13 formed from its central part, thus permitting the placing of two mounts 5, which may be of different sizes, onthe same side of the sheet.
Another embodiment is shown in Fig. 5,
standard sizes of stiffened ma1 mg containthe edges, thus centering the mount with its edges well within the edges of the filler sheet. When the assembled filler sheet and mount are placed within an envelope of the size of the filler sheet, the mount will be secure:
ly held without slipping.
Reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings wherein the same referv enee characters designate the same parts wherein the sheet 20 has two tabs 21 struck throughout and inswhieh fromeach of its four edges. .One tab from Fig. 1 is a perspective view. of the several each edge may be bent over a card 5 carried parts of a package separated. on one surface while, as is evident, the re- Fig. 2 shows the filler sheet only. maini'ng tabs may be bent back over the op-. Fig. 3 shows a modified filler sheet with a posite surface. Such. form is shown in an 1 mount in la e, r assembled package in Fig. 6. 100
Fig. 4 shows another embodimentof the 'filler sheet with two mounts carried on the by the manufacturer with the filler flat and in this condition constitute articles of sale, adapted to be used by photographers andv sellers of pictures and art goods, as well asby individual users. Dealers, as for in-- stance in tourist resorts, will have for sale photographs and other pictures already prepared for mailing in this package, which in this condition also constitute articles of sale.
same side thereof.
Fig. 5 showsstill another embodiment of side. 1
Fig. 6 is a section of a package including a filler sheet of the type shown in Fig. 5.
The package preferably consists of three parts, an outer envelope 1- of stout paper and 6 made into it from each edge, forming These packages willjbe made up and sold g ventiomall such modifications and equivalents as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: r
1. As an article of manufacture, a stiff, rectangular fiat container, a sheet separate from said container and fitting snugly with-- in said container and having tabs adapted to be bent over the central part of the sheet to hold a card in position thereon.
2. As an article of manufacture, a stifiened, rectangular container, a sheet separate from said container and fitting snugly 3. As an article of manufacture, a stifiened, rectangular envelope and a sheet separate from said envelope and fittin snugly within said envelope and having slits cut in each of its edges whereby tabs are formed, adapted to be bent over a card tohold the same in position thereon; a
4. As an. article of manufacture, a stillened, rectangular envelope, a sheet separate from said envelope and fitting snugly within said envelope and havingtabs cut from its edges, anda card of smaller dimensions thansaid sheet positioned centrally thereof, the said'card and holding tabs being bent over it in position.
Signed at London, England, this of March 1926.
