The present invention relates to van oil burner andfha's'for its prime obgect to provide a construction wherein the oil is gen-V this nature with which it is possible to have` a small steady flame or a large'V flame or flames of any of Vthe intermediate stages.
Another very important'object of the inventionV lies in the provision of a burner of this nature whichis practically 'silent in its operation. Y 4 K A still further very importanty object of. the invention resides in the provision of an oil burner of this lnature having an exceedingly simple structure which maybe manufactured at a low cost, is compact 1n its arrangement, convenient and easy to manipulate and adjust, thoroughly efcient and reliable in operation, and otherwise well signed. Y lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of'parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. i

The bottom 42 is formed with an annular depending flange 54 inwardly spaced from its edge and extending inside ofthe upper edge of the wall 41 and secured thereto by means of fastening elements 55 or in any other suitable manner. The top of themixing chamber M is in the form of a circular annular plate 56 having a circular depression 57 in the center thereof forming a well or recess from whichl depends an annular baille flange 58A into the mixing chamber M. The retort R is of cylindrical formation and its axis is disposed vertically. The lower end of the retort generator R is reduced and externally' threaded as is indicated by the numeral 59. This reduced end is threadedlyengaged in the top plate 56 by means of the inner wall 57 on the well 57. The remaining portion of the top plate 5G is erforated as is indicated at 60. This top p ate is held in place by means of bolts 61 engaged inthe bottom 42 outside of the, wall 41. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is z*- Y l. A burner of the class described comprising a base structure, a mixing chamber, and a retort generator, said base structure comprising a bottom with end walls rising therefrom, flanges projecting inwardly from the bottom and end walls, side plates fixed to said flanges, a needle valve structure mounted in one of the end walls, said mixing chamber comprising` a bottom having a de pending flange adjacent the periphery thereof, means fixing the last mentioned flange to the ends of the base structure and the side plates thereof, a wall arising from the bottom of the mixing chamber, a top resting on the wall of the mixing chamber, a portion of the top having` formed therein a depression to form a well and the Vremaining' portion being perforated, a retort generator mounted on the top plate above the depression, a pipe connecting the retort generator with the needle valve structure, an intake pipe leading from the bottom of the mixing chamber through the base structureterminating'co-axially and in spaced relation with the needle valve structure, said end wall of the-base structure'having mounted therein the needle valve structure being provided with openings. y
