This invention/relates to new and useful improvements in a burner. I
-Onei objectof thetinventlon is to provide alburner ofthe'character described specially 5 designed for the .utilization of either oil or gas as'a fuel and: of such novel construction that it will readily vaporize the oil,
whenioil is used as .aifuel.
Another object of theinvention is to provide a iburner ,of :the. character described equipped-with; novel means for supplying air whereby a proper mixture of Iair and fuel may beat all times maintained to induce combustion of the fuel. y A further feature of the invention isto providea-i burner of: the character described equipped with a detachable combustion ring which will assist in the breaking up and completecombustion of the fuel used;

With the above and other objects in view this invention has particular relation to certain novelcfeatu'res of constructiomoperation andarrangementof parts, an example of which isgiven in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein [The figure shows aperspective view of the burner, partly in section.

The film will be deflected outwardly against the combustion ring by the rim of the cap 21 and said ring will-become very hot and further break up the unconsumed particles of gas so that'the fuel will be completely consinned.

In case oil is used as a fuel it will trickle down around the generatorand dropinto the channel 13 in liquid state until the generatorbecomes hot enough to vaporize it. For
the purpose of preventing the oil from following along the underside, of the'generator and dropping into thechamber 6 the lower edge of the generator 'is' provided with a plurality of' spaced outwardly extending projections 24 which are providedwiththe designates a supply "gas grooves 25 which will lead the oil out to the points of the projections 2a where it will drop into the channel 13. After the generator becomes thoroughly heated the oil will be vaporized and will thus be discharged in a circular sheet all around the generator.
The chamber 6 has an inlet opening 26, providing for the intake of air from the free atmosphere, or for the connection of a flue leading from a conventional blon fan in case such blow fan is used.
What we claim is 1. A burner including a cup-like support having an air chamber therein, an annular base on said support, a generator above said base having an internal chamber, a generator cap spaced above the generator forming a channel between them, an outlet connecting the generator chamber with said channel and afuel line terminating in said generator and having an outlet leading therefrom into said channel.
2. A burner including an annular base, a detachable combustion ring thereon, a cupshaped support sustaining said base and having an air chamber therein provided with an air inlet, a fuel inlet line leading up through the base, a hollow generator above said base and secured to the upper end of said line and having an internal chamber into which said line discharges and provided with an outlet opening and a generator cap disposed above said generator and spaced therefrom and forming an annular channel with which said outlet opening communicates.
3. A burner including an annular base having a central opening and having a channel around said opening, an outwardly flared combustion ring on said base, a cup shaped support on which said base is mounted, said support having an air chamber provided with an air inlet, a central spider carried by the base and formed with a bearing, a generator having an internal chamber with an outlet opening leading upwardly therefrom, a fuel inlet line extending up through said support and bearing and attached to said generator and terminating in the chamber therein and a generator cap fitted over said generator and spaced therefrom.
4. A burner including a generator, a generator cap fitted over and spaced from the generator forming a channel between them, means for delivering fuel into said channel, an annular base surrounding and spaced beneath the generator and having an upstanding outwardly flared rim removable therefrom and forming an annular combustion channel around said' generator, the nipper margin of said ring extending above the lower margin of said cap.
5. A burner including an annular base having a central opening and a channel around said opening, an approximately conical shaped generator disposed above said opening and having a fuel duct leading through the apex thereof, the lower end of said duct being enlarged forming a fuel heat ing chamber, a generator cap fitted over the generator and spaced therefrom forming a passageway between them which discharges into said channel, a fuel line disposed to discharge fuel into said chamber and to which said generator is attached.
6. A burner including an annular base having a central opening and a channel around said opening, an approximately conical shaped generator disposed above said opening and having a fuel duct leading through the apex thereof, a generator cap fitted over the generator and spaced therefrom forming a fuel passageway between them which discharges into said channel, a fuel line disposed to discharge fuel into said duct and to which said generator is attached and an outwardly flared removable combustion ring mounted on said base, and whose upper margin extends above the lower margin of the generator cap.
7. A burner including an annular base having a central opening and a channel around said opening, an approximately, conical shaped generator disposed above said opening and having a fuel duct leading through the apex thereof, and which is formed into a fuel heating chamber in said generator, a generator cap fitted over the generator and spaced therefrom forming a fuel passageway between them which discharges into said channel, a fuel line disposed to discharge fuel into said duct and to which said generator is attached and an outwardly flared combustion ring mounted on said base and detachable therefrom the upper margin of the combustion ring extending above the lower margin of said cap.

A burner including an annular base havinga central opening and outer and inner marginal upstanding flanges spaced apart forming an annular channel between them, an outwardly flared combustion ring mounted on said outer flange, a spider in said opening, carried by said base, and having a central bearing, a fuel line extending through said bearing, a substantially conical shaped generator associated with the upper end of said line, and spaced above the base and having a fuel duct leading from said line upwardly therethrough, a generator cap fitted over said generator and spaced therefrom.
9. A burner including an annular base having a central opening and outer and inner marginal upstading flanges spaced apart forming an annular channel between them, an outwardly flared combustion ring mounted on said outer flange, a spider in said opening, carried by said base and having a cen tral bearing, a fuel line extending through said bearing, a substantially conical shaped generator associated with the upper end of air chamber and an air inlet lending into said line and spaced abovethe base and havsaid chamber. ing a fuel duct leading from said line up- In testimony whereof we have signed our 19 wardly therethrough, a generator cap fitted names to this specification.
