This invention relates to machines used in railway booking offices and elsewhere for stamping a date or other mark upon a railway or other ticket or the like, and pro- 5 vides an improved form of machine for the aforesaid purpose.

The principal ticket datingmachines arises from the fact that the date type is not readily changeable, and there is a certain amount of danger of injury to the fingers of the operator... .7

The invention will be described as used for arailway booking otiice. Its use in other booking oifices necessitates merely the changing of the type to, suit any particular purpose.

The main feature of the machine to be hereinafter described, is the facility with which the type can bechanged to enable a ticket to have imprinted thereon any desired date or marking within the range provided by the machine, without undulydelaying the issue of the ticket, thereby enabling a single machine to successfully cope 15 with the expeditious issue of tickets requiring to have imprinted thereon different dates or markings I i A further feature of the invention is the manner in which the imprint or marking is 80 placed on the ticket, the insertion andjde pression of the latter in a guide provided for. its reception causing a- ,hammer to descend and strike the ticket a blow, whereby the latter is forced onto thetype and receives an imprint thereof, per medium of an inking ribbon located between said ticket and said type. 3 v

Claim s': v a o machine of the character desbribed comprising disks with type on theirperipheries rotatable about a horizontal a'icisinde extensions said disks, indicators on said extensions, a depressible lever arranged above the type disks, ati'ck'et guide mounted on said depressible lever, a pivoted hammer leyer adapted to descend into said ide and actuated by the depressible lever, and means for passing an inking ribbon between said guide and said type disks substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

2. A machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein the ticket guide is provided with a slot located directly over the selective type, and wherein the hammer descends over said slot substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

3. A machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means for passing the ribbon includes a wheel mounted on the forward end of the ticket guide lever, a rear Wheel over which the ribbon is passed and mechanism operably connected with the lever and actuatable upon the depressing of said lever substantiallyas and for the purposes set forth.

4. A machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein spaced bearings are provided, a horizontal shaft journaled in the bearings and on which the disks and the extensions are mounted, the disks being positioned between the bearings, the extensions being in the form of sleeves of different lengths which pass through the bearings and extend therebeyond substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

5. A machine as claimed inclaim 1 Wherein spring actuated catches are engaged with each of the indicators and against which the indicators are rotatable.

6. A machine as claimed in claim 1 wherein the ticket guide and hammer sup-porting levers are, pivoted eccentrically in relation to each other, and a link connecting therear ends of said levers together so that upon the ticket guide being depressed the hammer descends and strikes a ticket which is adapted to be inserted in said guide.

7. A machine of the character described comprising disks with type on their peripheries rotatable about a horizontal axis, side extensions from. said disks, indicators on said extensions, a depressible member arranged above the type disks, a ticket guide mounted on said depressible member, depres sion means adapted to descend into said guide and actuated by said depressible mem-v her, and means for passing an inking ribbon between said guide and said type disks sub stantially as and for the purposes set forth.
