Carried by the bottom plate 32 and extending within the casing are the spring housings 33 through which project the supporting legs 34, connected at their upper portions by means of the rods 35 and retained in their normal or projecting positions as is better illustrated in Figure 1 by suitable coil springs arranged in the housings 33. Mounted on one rod 35 are the pawls 37 and 38 engaging the type wheels forming section A, whereby when movement is transmitted to the bars 35 the pawls will cause these type wheels to rotate which in turn will register the consecu tive numbers thereon and record the number of timesimpressions were made. The shaft 36 connecting the rear supporting legs to the rod 35, also serves to support a pressure roll 26 which carries the tape 23 to the type Wheels 9 when pressure is applied to the stamp. This shaft also carries the pawl 29 which by the spring action of the supporting legs will turn the ratchet 28 carried by 'the winding roll 27 thereby drawing the paper 23, making the same ready for the next operation.
When using my improved device, the levers 4 are first moved to the desired figures.
Adjacent the slots 3 as are shown in-Fig. 2 thereby causing to be registered within the window 16 the account number which latter is effected by the number of rollers of section B, the amount of the sale or purchase by the number rollers of section C and the date by the rollers of section B. I At the same time the adding mechanism is actuated so that the total amount of sales made will appear through the window 22. When these levers 4 are returned to their normal position as shown in Figure ,3 the window 16 will be cleared of numerals whereas the total amounts of sales will stillappear through the window 22. When pulling down on these levers 4 the .type wheels 8 and 9 will also be rotated whereby the numbers corresponding with those shown through the window 16 of sections B, C and D will register with the opening 39 ofthe bottom of the casing and the roller 26 respectively. Downward pressure is now applied to the handle 1 forcing the type of the wheel 8 upon a book, check or other receipt as is illustrated in Fig. 4 where an entry is to be made which latter is placed upon a suitable support below the stamp casing. As the roller 26 is supported by the legs 34 the type of the wheels 9 will also be moved in contact with the tape thereupon printing the registered numbers of all the sections A, 'B, C and D thereon. The type wheels forming section A and the tape 23 engaged on the winding roll 27 are automatically moved forward ready for the next operation through the pawl and ratchet mechanism formally described.
Obviously, my improved device is capable of many modifications, and those modi fications that are within the scope of my claims, I consider within the spirit of my invention.
I claim:
1. A device of the character described comprising a casin sets of type impressing wheels, mounted within said casing, a tape arranged in the casing adjacent one of said sets of t pe impressin wheels, a resilient support or the casing, aving a portion extended within the latter, and means carried by the extended portion of said support and engageable' with the tape for carrying the same into contact with its adjacent type wheels to receive an impression therefrom upon depressing said casing on its support.
2. A device of the character described comprising a casing, an adjustable printer mounted within the casing, a tape arranged in the casing adjacent said printer, a resilient support for the casing arranged upon the under side thereof and having a portion ex. tended within said casing, and means carried by the extended portion of said support-and engageable with said tape for carrying the same into contact with the printer to receive an impression therefrom upon depressing of the casing on its support.
3. A device of the character described comprising a casing having an opening formed in the under side thereof, two cooperatively associated sets of type impressing wheels mounted within the casing, one of said sets of type impressing wheels being positioned to register with the opening formed in the under side of said casing, a tape arranged in the casing adjacent the remaining set of type impressing wheels, a resilient support carried by the under side of the casing and having a portion extended therein and engageable with said tape, whereby upon depressing the casing, said resilient support will carry the tape into contact with its adjacent set of type wheels and allow the other set of type wheels registering with the opening formed in the under side of the casing to print upon an article placed outside of said casing.
4. A device of the character described comprising a casing, sets of type impressing wheels mounted within the casing, a tape arranged inthe casing adjacent one of said sets of type impressing wheels, a resilient support for said casing having a portion extended within the latter, a pressure roll carried by the extended portion of said support and engageable with said ta e for carrying the latter into contact wit its adjacent type wheels upon depressing the casing, and means associated with said support and tape for actuating the latter upon returning of the casing to its normal position.
5. A device of the character described comprising a casing, a printer mounted within the casing, a tape arranged in the, casing adjacent said printer, spring actuated legs mounted in the under side of the casin and having a portion extended within the atter, means secured to the extended portion of said legs interconnecting the same, and a pressure roll supported by certain of said legs, engageable with the tape for carrying the latter into contact with its adjacent printer upon depressing the casing.
6. A device of the character described comprising a casing, aprinter mounted within the casing, a movable tape arranged in the casing adjacent said printer, spring actuated legs mounted in the under side of the casing and having a portion extended within the latter means secured to the extended portion of said legs interconnecting the same, a pressure roll supported by the extended portion of certain of said legs and engageable with the tape for carrying the latter into contact with its adjacent printer upon depressingof the casing, and means associated with said legs and tape to move the latter with the up and down movement of FRANZ GRUTTMANN.
