UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT F. FYANS, F FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO FYANS RESEARCH (30., A FIRM COMPOSED OF A. F. FYANS, RICI'IARID BOABDMAN, AND JOHN '1. FYANS,
OF FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS.
TOF'ROLL-SADDLE 7 ME CHANISM.
Original application filed April 18, 1527, Serial September 17, 1927.
This invention relates totop roll mecha IllSll) and it has for its particular object to provide novel means for increasing the weight on the top roll saddle.
111 top roll saddle mechanism, the weight is applied to the top saddle through the medium oi a stirrup which is hung from the saddle and which is connected at its lower end to a wcigh'ted'lever. Sometimes it is desirable to add more weight to the top roll, or to the top saddle, and one method by which this is sometimes accomplishec by adjusting the fulcrum point of the stirrup on the weighted lever.
My present invention, however provides for adding to the weight on the top roll by employing a novel auxiliary weight, which may be readily applied to the usual. weight that is hung from the weighted lever. in
-' order to give an understanding of the invention, l have illustrated in the drawings a selected embodiment thereof, which will now be described, after which the novel features will be pointed out in the appended claim.
The drawings show a top roll mechanism embodying my invention.
in the drawing 1 indicates theusual roller stand, which may be of any desirable construction, and 2, 3 and 4 indicate the front, middle and rear bottom rolls, while 5, 6 and T indicate the front. middle and rear top rolls. The top roll saddle herein shown oomprises the two saddle members 8 and 9. The desired weight is applied to the saddle in usual manner t irough a stirruplO which is hung from ti e front saddle member 8 and is connected in usual manner at its lower end to the weighted lever 11. This lever tulcrnined at one end on the tulcrui'n member 1: 2 and at its outer end it has a weight 13 applied thereto through the medium of the suspender let.
The parts thus far described are, or may be, all as usual in top roll saddle mechanism and form no part of my present invention.
As stated above, it is sometimes desirable to increase the weight on the top roll saddle.

iereon may be hung back on the suspender 'il 'l'l 'd" V 1o mug it :4 is oimed with a neck it which extendsup through the opening 16 in the auxiliary weight, so that the opening said weight 13 with the auxiliary weight 15 through the neck which receives the hook 18 on the lower end oi the suspender la is situated above the auxiliary weight, With this arrangement the presence of the amtiliary weight does not interfere with applymg the. weight 13 to the hook 14 or remove ing it therejiroiin. These ai'ixiliary weights 15 can be inexpensively made and the invention thus provides a simple and inexpensive means to secure added weight. on any top roll.
This application is a division of my apiilic itiouSerial NoQlSlAST, filed AprillS, 192i WlilClt has matured into Patent No.

l claim:
in a drawing mechanism, drawing rolls, means to apply a. weight thereto comprising a top saddle, a lever connected to said top saddle, and a main "weight having a stein by which it'is hung on the lever, in combination with a bell-shaped additional weight removably carried by the main weight and in'ovided with an opening through which the stem extends and which ma 7 is required. In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
