This invention relates to improvementsin staif or pole supports and more particularly to devices of that character designed for the mounting of poles to which radio aerials, or the like, may be attached' i The principal, object of the present inven tion is to provide devices for mounting aerial masts, flag poles, and'the like, on the roofs of houses, especially at the ridges of roots and which are adjustable so as to conform to roots of various slope as well as to fiat Other ob'ects of the invention reside the i the same as mounted on the ridge of a roof.v

Referring more in detail to the drawings The device comprises a tubular sleeve 1 formed from a piece of sheet metal having its longitudinal edges overlapped and secured together to form a tube of desired diameter by means of a bolt 2 extended throughslots 2-3 in the overlapped edges of the piece and secured by anut 4.
Extending outwardly and downwardly fromdiametrical opposite points at'the lower end of the tube 1 are two supporting legs 5 and 6 which are pivotally mounted on a horizontal pin 7 which serves also as a hinge,
pin whereby two oppositely directed base plates 8 and 9 are pivotally connected. The
plates are mounted on the pin between the legs 5 and 6 of the tube and are adapted to lie against a roof at opposite sides of the ridge, as shown in Figure 2, and for thepurpose of attachment, are provided with holes 10 through which screws or nails 11 may beextended,
The opposite ends of the-hinge pin 7 extend somewhat beyond the legs 5 and 6 and fixed on the ends thereof are the lower ends of a pair of brace bars 12 and 13 which, at their upper ends, are secured to the opposite sides ofthe tube 1 near its.

Formed in the opposite side walls-of the 1 tube corresponding to the direction in which the base plates 8 and 9 extend, are vertical slots 15 and 16 and pivotally secured b bolts 17 extended betweenpaired, upstan ing ears 18 at the outer ends of the base plates, are brace bars 19 and 20 which, at their upper ends, are pivotally fixed by bolts 21 to plates ,22 and'23, respectively,
that slidably engage with the outer walls of the tube and are secured adjustably thereto by bolts 24 and 25 which extend outwardly through the wallslots 15 and 16 and are held therein by heads 26 at their inner ends.
' In mounting the device on the ridge of a roof, it is placed with the hinge pin 7 parallel with the ridge andthe base plates lying flatly against the roof at opposite sides i of the ridge where they are secured by nails, screws, or other suitab e means 11. The tube is adjusted to the desired position and then held by tightening the nuts on bolts 24 and 25 to retain the adjustment. The mast or pole is then inserted inthe tube.
The adjustable connections provided between the tube and upperends of the brace rods permit the device to be applied to roofs of various pitch and also'permits one plate torbe adjusted for a different pitch 7 than the other. To permit a still further adjustment, I have provided holes 29 in spaced relation adjacent the lower ends of the brace bars 19 and 20 for receiving the attaching bolts 17.
Such devices may and it is apparent that changes in various details could be "made" without departing from the spirit of the invention and for this reason I do not wish to be limited only 'to the device as illustrated.
