TOY PISTOL.
Application filed August 2, 1927. Serial No. 210,166.
The object of this invention is to provide atoy pistol having a cannon effect.
A further object of this .invention is to provide a toy pistol where a ball is released on pulling a trigger.
A further object of this invention is to provide a toy pistol where a ball is released on pulling of a trigger and a cap cartridge is detonated simultaneously.
A particular object of this invention is to provide a toy pistol having a spring with a loop for holding a ball and a trigger for releasing the spring which causes the ball to fly and a 'detonating device attached to the spring which causes a cap cartridge to be detonated simultaneous with the flying of the ball.

In carrying out our invention, We provide a wood or metal shaped pistol 1, having a handle 2 and a forepart 3. The pistol may be made in one or several parts glued together.
Adjacent to the handle there is provided a slot 4.
Within the slot 4, we place a trigger 5 formed of wire and bent into a springlike form with a loop 6 for the finger. One end of the wire 7, is bent forward and sets in the forward part of the slot 4. The other end of the wire is provided with an outwardly projecting hook 8. The latter wire is also provided with a bump 9 which acts as a fulcrum when the trigger is operated.
To the forward part 3 there is attached a long spring wire 10 set into the pistol at 11 by means of an inwardly projecting wire. The wire is then turned over the pistol and is turned so as to form a resting point 13 or fulcrum.
The other end of the wire is formed into a loop 14 of suflicient area to hold a ball 15.

About midway of the pistol there is provided a slot 18, extending part of the way and drilled holes 19 and 20 extending the rest of the depth.
To the wire 10 at a convenient point, there is attached a wire formed device 21. ,This device comprises of two wires attached to wire 10 at 22 these wires then pass through drilled holes 19 and 20 and at their bottom they support a cup shaped device 23 to hold paper cartridges 24.
Between the drilled holes 19' and 20 there is placed a wood or metal knob 25 fastened to the lower part of the pistol.
Inooperation, the spring wire 10 is bent down so that the tongue 17 cooperates with hook 8 and the ball 15 placed on loop 14 and at the same time a. paper cartridge is placed in the cup shaped holder 24; When the trigger 5 is moved about a fulcrum '9 the hook 8 moves forward and releases the tongue 17, and due to the spring 10 the wire 10, moves up and throws the ball. At the same time the cup shaped holder moves up and the paper cap comes in contact with the knob 25 and explodes. Thus the combined actionof flying ball and explosion gives the effect of a cannon ball action.
