This invention relates to trucks.
An object of the invention is to provide trucks o f lightand'exceptionally ystrongconstruction, Which are particularly Well adapted for use in the transportation of materials between various departments of stores, mills, factories and the like, or in any other situation in which Ya light, strongtruckmay be useful.
Another object of the invention is to provide a: truck ofthis character made up of a. plurality of thin panels of composite construction, each of which vincludes a plurality of layers of Wood and sheet' metalsecured'together, With means for reinforcing andbinding such panels together to provide a truck body receptacle Whichmay be equipped with suitable rollers or Wheels.

Each corner of the truck is provided with a metallic bracket 27, and as all of such brackets, except for their disposition, rare similar in construction and attachment, only one of the same is specifically ydescribed h erein. Each bracket?? is angular in form, and preferably U orchannel shaped in cross section, the angular portion 28 of such bracket being arranged, to tit snugly over the coverinr stri o 'i9 and sheathino` 2l such covering strip being secured to the panel l1, and the bracket to the panel ll land the covering strip, by means of rivets 29 extending through all of the parts. The angular portion'SO of each bracket 27 has its inner Wall 3l ydisposed against the inner surface of the adjacent panel l0, and in the-space between the'end of the adjacent reinforcing strip 2&1- andthe panel 1l. The
opposite Wall 82 of the angular portion 3() of the bracket 27 is outvvardlyrspaced from they panel 10, as' clearly shown inFigs. 3 and 5, and in conjunctionftvith the bevelled portion'26 of the edge of the panel 10, and the cut-out portion 23 of the covering strip 19, provides a journal bearing 33, defined by the U portion of the bracket, the cut-,out portion 23 of the covering strip 19and'the curved bevelled edge 26 of the adj acent'side Wall 10. Similar bearings 33' are provided by each of the other brackets 27 at the respective corners of the truck body portion, such bearings being adapted for the reception of suitable journalsB/l, formed on the door members 35, which Willnow bede-` scribed.

In a device of the character described, the combination with means providing an opening; of a door for closing said opening, said door being in the form of a composite panel comprising layers of fibrous material and sheet metal, said door being provided With projecting integral portions; and st iifening strips secured to opposite sides of said door, and extending along said projecting portions to provide journals; andmeans associated With the means providing said opening for the pivotal reception of said journals.

In a device of the character described, the combination with means providing an opening; of a door for closing said opening, said door comprising layers of ibrous material and sheet metal secured together to pro vide a composite panel, said panel being formed with projecting portions adjacent one edge; and substantially half round stifening strips secured to the opposite sides ofk said door and extending along said projecting portions, and in conjunction therewith providing cylindrical journals; and means associated With the means providing said opening for the pivotal reception of said journals. j
5. As an article of manufacture, a composite door comprising a plurality of layers of fibrous material and sheet metal, such door having integral extensions adjacent its edges, and stiffening strips secured on opposite sides of said door and extending along said extensions to provide journals.

In ardevice of the character described, the combination With a body receptacle having side and end Walls and a body portion; cover strips secured to the top edges Vof certain of said Walls of said receptacle; reinforcing strips mounted on the inner sides of the other walls ofvsaid body portion adjacent the inner top edges thereof; angular corner brackets channel shaped in cross section, one angular portion of each of said brackets being secured to the related cover strip, and the other angular portion of said bracket extending beyond the adjacent Wall of the body receptacle; and a door having journals thereon retained in the last named angular portions of said brackets, and bearing against the top edge of the adjacent Wall, said doors being supported on the rein-A forcing strips on the side Walls when in closed position.

In a device of the character described, comprising a receptacle including end Walls, side Walls and a bottom portion, the Walls and bottom portion of each including a com posite panel made up of layers of fibrous material and sheet metal secured together; cover strips secured to the top edges of the end Walls of said receptacle; reinforcig strips disposed on the inner side of the side Walls of said receptacle adjacent the top edges thereof; angular brackets channel shaped in cross section, and having one angular portion thereof litting over the related cover strip; and a door having journals pivotally mounted in the other angular portions of said brackets.
8. In a device of the character described, comprising a receptacle including end Walls,
side Walls and a bottom portion, the Walls and bottom portion each comprising a cornposite panel made up of layers of fibrous material and sheet metal; cover strips secured to the top edges `of the end Walls of said receptacle; reinforcing strips secured on the inner sides of the side Walls of said receptacle adjacent the top edges thereof; angular brackets channel shaped in cross section, and having one angular portion thereof fitting over the adjacent cover strip;
and a door having journals pivotally mounti ed in the other angular portions of said brackets, said door being in the form of a compositepanel made up of layers of librous material and sheet metal secured together.
9. In a device of the character described, comprising a bod)7 receptacle including end and side Walls and a bottom portion; cover strips on the top edges of said end Walls;
angular corner brackets channel shaped in l cross section, each having one angular porvtion fitting over the related cover strip; and a door having members journaled in vthe other angular portions of said brackets, said door being cut away to clear said brackets in closed position, and saidA brackets being cut away to permit swinging of said doors to positions adjacent the side Walls of said receptacle.
