Application filed April 18, 1925. Serial M m;
This invention'relates to hand Cutting and gripping tools and has special reference to a combination scissors tool.
More particularly the invention relates to a combination of scissors, wire cutter,-
needle or pin holderand article grip,
One object of the invention is to improve the general construction of. devices of. this character. I v
A second object of the inventionis to provide tool having a pair of pivoted scissor members provided with needle grips of varying sizes.
A third object of the invention isto pro} vide a scissors device having needle gripping surfaces on the handles adjacent the piv-,
oted portions. I lVith the above and other objects in view,
the invention consists in general of certain.
novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described,-
illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically clainied.-
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in ticles of various sizes may be gripped bethese several views, and
Fig. 1' is a sideview of a pair of scissors in closed position as constructed in accordance with this invention; f
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 showing the scissors in open position, and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged section on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
As shown in the present embodiment the in- I vention consists of a pair of scissors members consisting each of a. bladeportion 10 of ordinary scissors formation and a shank portion 11 having a finger eye 12 at the end thereof. These blade portions are pivotally connected,
between the blades and shanksv by a pivot 13. Between the pivot 13 and the respective finger eyes 12 each shank has adjacent the pivot a .wire-cuttingnotch 14, while spaced =there'from in the direction of the eyes, each shank has a plurality of article gripping notches 15 graduated in size and having the notcheson one shank arranged in similarly graduated cooperative relationto the notches in the remaining shank. Adjacent the notches 15 the shanks are provided with cooperating roughened jaws 16 such as may' be produced by the formationof file. teeth It will or nurling.
be noted that the wire-cutting jaws are largerthan the largest of thegrip- Pmg j serve as g .be gripped in the jaws 15. r
so that the. wire cutters may also rippers for larger wires than can cutwire by the employment of the jaws or notches 14 Still further the jaws or notches 15 'may' be used to grip such articles as needles-or the like, the proper size of the graduated grips being selected for the spe-E cial article to; be gripped. Moreover ar-' tween the roughened or nurled jaws.
There has thus been provideda simple Having ,-is claimed In combination, apair ofmembers connected and having 3 overlapping ally t-hatthe thus described the invention, what as new is.:'.
pivotedgespthe overlapping edges being provided with opposed rectangular notches, the bottoms of said notches being beveled to form.
opposed cutting edges, .and the sides of the notches projecting beyond the cutting edges whereby to prevent slipping of an article being cut.
