In conjunction with the clamp, I employ a pair of 'turnbuclles 26 which are'provi'ded at their forward ends with hooks 27 to engage the eyes of the body member of' the clamp while at their rear ends, said turnbuclrles are provided with eyes 28 to engage anchoring studs 29. To install -the device, the studs 29 are arranged to project from the wall or roof. of the mine at opposite sides of the plane of the trolley wire 10, when the eyes Q8 of the turnbuclles are engaged with said studs. The eyes 2O of the body member of the clamp are then engaged with the hooks 27 of said turnbuclzles, when the fixed jaw Q1 of said member is positioned against the 'cable 12 at its upper side. The movable jaw 23 isthen arranged to embrace the cable and is engaged with the flanges 22 of the body member, when said jaw is manually advanced to grip the cable between the jaws. Accordingly, by then adjusting the turnbuckles 26, the cable may be drawn taut and, as will be seen, pull upon the cable will cause the movable jaw to be further advanced upon thebody member by the pull of the cable so that the cable will be rigidly gripped between the jaws of the clamp. Thus, the cable may be stressed, as may be desired, without danger of the slipping` of the clamp while the cable will be securely anchored to extend above the trolley wire, and, as will now be appreciated, the anchor is equally applicable for use vin a system employing veither' the clamps 13 or the clamps 14, or both.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is: j
1. In a wire anchor, a clamp including a body member having a fixed jaw, and a sub* .stantially U-shaped movable jaw having side first mentioned flanges,
portions to straddle a wire confined between said side portions to lie between the'jaws, the movable jaw being shiftable upon the body member in a plane at an angle to the plane of' the fixed jaw for gripping a wire between the jaws.
2. In a wire anchor, a clamp including a body member having a fixed jaw, flanges on said member at opposite sides of said jaw and lying in a plane at an angle to the plane of' the iaw, and a channel-shaped movable jaw shiftable upon the body member for gripping a wire between the jaws, said movable jaw being provided with side portions having flanges to coact with said first mentioned flanges and having the side portions thereof disposed to straddle the wire for confining the wireto lie between the jaws.
3. In a wire anchor, a clamp including a body member having side and end bars andv provided with a fixed jaw extending between said end bars, lianges on the side bars, and a channel-shaped movable jaw shiftable upon the body member in a plane at an angle to the plane of' the fixed jaw for clamping a wire between the jaws, the movable jaw having side portions provided with flanges to coact with said first mentioned flanges and having the side portions thereof disposed to straddle the wire for confining the wire to lie between the jaws. l
