VENNOOT- BENFABRIEK, OF APPINGEDAM, NETHER- ROTARY BUMP.
Application filed February 1927, Serial No. 166,257, and in the Netherlands December 28 1925.
The invention relates to a rotary pump of the type in which the vanes rotate about bosses, which are mounted concentrically with regard to the cylinder-axis and which 5 are connected to the cylinder-covers. The
vanes are driven by a rotor which is mounted eccentr'ically within the pump-casing.
The rotary pumps hitherto constructed in this. way however posses the disadvantage that there will be great wear on the edges of the .vanes moving along the cylinder walls,
so that these pumps soon become impracticable.
In order to remove these difiiculties these 1 pumps according to the invention are' so constructed that by a combination of constructional particulars the wear during use is diminished considerably.
are:
(1) That the driving rotor is co1nposed of two or more parts andthe driven vanes of one single piece.
(2) That the parts, of which the rotor consists, are connected together and mount tric shaft, on .which'the rotor is mounted,
when this shaft turns with uniform velocity, the rotation of the rotor will be uniform. However, as at each full rotation another ties of which move along the cylinder-walls, do not possess a uniform velocity. While however according to the inventionthe vanes are made of one single piece, which is possible as the rotor consists of two. or 'more parts, it is possible to keep the mass of the vanes very small so that the diflicult with the 'rregular ve ocity along the cy inderwalls is reduced to a minimum. Furthermore according to the invention the vanes are an ported at two sides, thereby preventing eviation of the vanes and disintegration of the ump.
In. order to effect t is kind of support of the'vanes the parts of the rotor accordin to the invention are connected together and cylinder, in the space between the bosses.
These constructional particular features point of the driven vanes comes into congtact with the rotor, the vanes, the extremito the shaft, which lies eccentrically in-the In the drawing a preferred form of a rotary pump according to the 'invention is illustrated. 1
Fig. 1 is a cross-section and Fig. 2 a longitudinal section of the pump.
In the pump-cylinder 1 there is a shaft 2, on which the two parts of the rotor 3 are mounted. The connectionofthese parts to each other and to the shaft 2 is effected by means of the screw-bolts 4 and takes place in thespace between the bosses 5 and 6 which extend into the rotor and which are fastened to the cylinder- covers 7 and 8 or are cast with them. On the boss 5 the rin s 9 and 11 are rotatably mounted and on the oss 6 the rings 10 and 12.
The Vane 13 is connected to the rings 9 and 1001' it forms one single casting with them, and the vane 14 is similarly connected to the rings 11 and 12. The vanes are therefore supported on two sides by the bosses. The vanes pass through the space between the extreme outer edges of the cylinder-parts of the rotor.
Of course the vanes can be connected to the rings 9, 12 and 10, 11 instead ofto the rings'9, 10 and 11, 12 so that there is a two-sided support, in which way there will be no one-sided deviation and extra wear.
- I claim:
1. In a. rotary pump, a cylindrical casing, said casing being provided on each of its side walls with a boss, said bosses being in axial alignment and disposed concentricaL 1y to the axis of said casing, a rotor comprising a plurality of se mental portions, a shaft mounted eccentrica lly to said bosses, said rotor being secured to said shaft between the bosses, and a plurality of rings surrounding each of said'bosses, each of said rin having a radial vane integral therewit said vanes projecting through an opening formed between ad'acent segments of said rotor at opposite si es thereof.
2. In a rotary pump, a cylindrical casing, said casing being provided on each of its side walls with a boss, said bosses being in axial alignment and disposed concentrically to the axis of said casing, a rotor comprising a, pluralit of segmental portions, a shaft 1 mounte eccentncally to said bosses, said rotor being secured to said shaft between ing with a vane on a ring placed on the the bosses and a plurality of rings surother of said bosses a width equal to the in- 10 rounding each of said bosses, each of said side width of the pump casing.
rings having a radial vane integral there- In testimony whereof I have signed my with, said vanes projecting through an openname to this specification.
in formed between adjacent segments of Amsterdam, this 24th day of January said rotor at opposite sides thereof, the vane 1927.
on a ring placed on one of said bosses form- JAN BRONS.
