1,660,006 5. B. DRUCKER MACHINE FOR MAKING MAYONNAISE Original Filed se ps o, 1926 INVENTOR iiM ATTORNEY Patented Feb. 21, 1928.
UNITED STATES SAMUEL B. revenue, or BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
MACHINE FOR MAKING MAYONNAISE.
Application filed September 30, 1923, Serial No; 138,615. Renewed July 14, 1927.
This invention relates to mayonnaise making machines, and embodies thesubject-matter shown, described, but not claimed in my application executed and filed of even date herewith. l
The object ofthe invention is to provide an improved means for clamping and holding firmly and rigidly the stationary member employed in connection with a revoluble container in machines in making mayon' naise.
Other objects of the invention will appear more fully hereinafter. I l
The invention consists substantially in the construction, combination, location, and relative arrangement of parts, all as will be more fully hereinafter set forth, as shown in the accompanying drawing, and finally pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawing,-
Figure 1 is a View in elevation, parts broken out, and in vertical central section, showing a structure of machine for making mayonnaise employed in connection with my invention.
Figure 2 isa view in section on the line 2, 2, Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows, illustrating a form of clamping and supporting, means embodying my invention.
Fig. 3 is a broken detail view in section on the line 3, 3, Fig. 2, looking in the direction of the arrows.
Fig. 4 is a. broken detail view in section on the line 4, 4, Fig. 2, looking in the direc tion of the arrows.
Fig. 5 is a View in perspective showing a stationary member for use in a mayonnaise making machine and the application thereto of clamping and supporting means embodying my invention.
The same part isdesignated by'the same reference numeral wherever it occurs throughout the several views.
In its essential features the mayonnaise making machine to which my invention is applied, consists of! a container which is mounted to revolve axially, and into which protrudes or extends a detachable stationarily held frame which cooperates with the revolving container to effect the mixture and emulsification of the constituents of the mayonnaise batter. The present invention has particular reference to means for efficiently clamping and holding the detachable frame member.
Referring to the drawing,-7 designates a suitable stand, and 8 a motor mounted therein, which is arranged to rotate a supporting table'9, upon which may. be mounted for axial rotation therewith a container 10.
In the drawing, the container 10 is com- 14 is shown for this purpose, the threaded end of which is designed to be received in a threaded opening formed in the depending portion 13,- with the clamp plate 15 held between said depending portion 13 and a shoulder 17 formed on the clamp bolt 14. If desired, centering studs 16, carried by the plate 15, may engage in seats formed in the depending portion 13'for this purpose. The stationary frame which extends into and cooperates with the revolving container 10 is of generally rectangular shape, and includes the upper and lower members 1.8, 19, connected together by the side members 10 and the intermediate members 21. I The parts so far described in the specific details there of form no part of my present invention. The upper member 18 of the stationary frame is formed with a vertical slot to receive therein the clamp plate 15,. said plate being clamped in said slot by means of clamp bolts 23, which pass transversely through the walls of the slot in the upper member 18 of the stationary frame, and through elongated openings 22 in the clamp plate 15. In order to efliciently and rigidly clamp the station ary member to the clamp plate, it is desirable to constitute the side walls of the slot in said member'18 in effect spring clamping jaws. To accomplish this purpose, the member 18 is formed with kerfs 24, which extend into the end edges of the slot, which receive the plate 15. In practice I prefer to dispose the kerfs 24, which respectively communicate with the edges of the slot in the member 18, at opposite sides of the plate 15, and at diametrically opposite corners of said slot. By this construction, the side walls of the slot are constituted in effect spring clamping jaws, which efficiently clamp and grip the clamp plate 15 When the nuts on the clamp ing bolts 23 are turned up to draw the Walls of the slot together into clam in relation With respect to the plate 15. The elongated slots 22 in plate 15 afford a means for securing a desirable relative adjustment of the frame member 18 in clamp plate 15 so as to properly and accurately dispose said frame in proper relation with reference to the container 10 into Which it extends. l/Vith the frame member 18 and plate 15 properly adjusted, the one to the other, and efficiently clamped together by the spring jaws afforded by the side Walls of the slot in member 18 which receives the clamp plate, the entire structure of frame 18, 19., and the connected parts, may be quickly and easily clamped in rigid and stationary position by meansof the clamp bolt 14, or detached by removing said clamp bolt so as to permit the removal of said frame. 4
The process, involving the use of the apparatus herein disclosed and claimed, is
claimed in my co-pend'ing application 550,- 681, filed April 8, 1922.
Having now set forth the objects and nature of my invention, and a structure embodying the principles thereof, what I claim as new and useful and of my own invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
1. In a machine for making mayonnaise, an emulsifying member having'a slotted .portion, and means to detachably clamp and hold said member stationary 'When in working position, including a clamp plate extending into said slot, said member having oppositely disposed kerfs respectively 'communica'ting with the edges of said slot, clamp bolts passing through said plate and the side walls of said slot to clamp the parts to gether, and means to detachably support said plate. 2
2. In a machine for making mayonnaise, an emulsifying member having a slotted portion, and means to detachably clamp and hold said member stationary when in Working position, including a clamp plate extending into said slot, said member having spring acting kerfs respectively communicating with diagonally opposite corners of said slot, clamp bolts passing through said plate and the side Walls of said slot to clamp the parts together, and means to detachably support said plate. 4
3. In a machine for making mayonnaise, an emulsifying member having a slotted portion, and means to detachably clampand hold said member stationary when in working position, including a clamp plate extending into said slot, said member having oppositely disposed kerfs respectively com-municating With the edges of said slot, clamp bolts passing through vsaid plate and the side walls of said slot to clamp the parts together.
4. In a machine for making mayonnaise, an emulsifying member having a slot-ted :portion, and means to detachably clamp and hold said member stationary when :in working position, including a complementary member extending into said slot, said first member having spring acting'kerfs respectively communicating with diagonally opposite corners of said slot, clamp 'bolts passing through 'saidsecond member and the side walls of said slot to clamp the parts together.-
5. In a machine for making mayonnaise, an emulsifying member having aslotted'portion, and means to detachably clamp and hold said member stationary .When in Working position, including a complementary member extending into said slot, said first member having spring acting oppositely d-is' posed portionsforn'iing the side Walls 0f said. slot, clamp bolts passing through said second member and the side Walls of said slot to. clamp the parts together.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 29th day of September, "1926.
