ETGUEE TOY.
- Appncauonvmed April 7,1927. serial No..1'si,ao2.
vide the body andhead portion of the frog` with a casing consisting of a minimum number of parts which may be--easily sewed to` gether and stuffed with a soft filling..`
Another object of the invention is to provide the legs of the frog'with feet members formed of flexible material and lirmly secured in the end portions of the legs so that -they may not be easily tornloose.
The inventionis illustrated in thel accom panying drawing,iwherein i Figure 1 is a perspective view of the toy; Fig. 2 is -a longitudinal sectional view through the toy, and Y Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view illustrating the formation of one of the feet and the manner in which it is secured in the free end portion of a leg.
The toy includes a body portion 1 having a head 2 formed integral therewith vand front and rear legs 3 and 4C which carry feet 5. The casing of the body which is stuffed with a soft filler 6 is formed of soft fabric and consists of front and side sections 7 and 8, the side sections 8 being sewed together along the bach andl across the 'top of the head of the body and having their forward edge portions sewed to the front section 7 at the sides and across the bottom thereof. The upper end portion 9 of the front section 7 is free from the portions of the side sec-- tions which form the head 2 and constitute a lower jaw, the margins of which are sewed to an insert 10 which forms the mouth of the frog and has the margins of its upper portion sewed to the margins of the head forming portions of the side sections 8. LSince the casing is formed of soft fabric and is stued with a filling ofl raw cotton or any other suitable soft material, the jaw 9 may Y be easily moved from the normal position shown in Fig. 1 and in full lines in Fig. 2 to either a closed or a fully opened position, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2. This willl afford amusement to a small child playing with the toy. The eyes 11 are in the form illustrated represented by buttons Isewed at opposite sides of the headbut other means toy represent eyes could be employed orvthey could be painted upon the sides of the head. In the preferred construction the side sections 8 of the easing will be formed of green cloth, the front secf tion 7 cream colored and the insert 10 red,
butit willbe understood that other color schemes maybe employed. 1 The legs 3 and 4 are preferably green and each consists of a tubular casing 12 which tapers toward its outer end and is stuffed with a soft lilling 13 similar to the filling G. The legs lare disposed at opposite sides of the body and in the present illustration are secured by `stitches la which extend entirely through the body and permit the legs to be moved tovarious positions. If desired,rods may be passed through the body and legs and-carry caps or plates at their ends to retain the legs in'place.
' The feet 5 are of a duplicate construction and each is formed of a soft flexible material preferably sheet rubber. The sheet rubber from which the foot is formed is cut to represent toes 15 at its outer end and at its inner end is flared to provide a shank portion 16 which is disposed in the outer free end portion of the leg where it has been shown secured by stitches 17 passed through the shank and outer end portion of the casing 12. By referring to Fig. 3, it will be seen that when the foot is sewed into the outer end portion of the leg it will be very irmly held in place and its flared end portion 16 will prevent it from being easily pulled out of the leg. A sound emitting bellows 18 of a conventional construction is placed in the body within the filling and causes a croaking noise resembling the croak of a frog when pressure is applied tothe body transversely thereof.;
Having thus described the invention, I y
for the head movable into and out of an open' position, and an insert of flexible material constituting the interior of the mouth and secured to the side sections and jaw-forming extension of said front section.
2. A figure toy comprising a body having a head and consisting of a casing of flexible material and a soft filling for the casing, said casing including front and side sections, the side 'sections being secured to the front section along the sides and lower end thereof, said front section having its upper end portion free from the side-sections and extending to form a flexible lower aw for the l head movable into and out of an open position, a reinforcing strip extending across and secured to the inner face of the jaw-form-` ing extension at the lower end thereof, and an. insert of flexible material constituting the interior of the month and secured to the side sections and jaw-forming extension of said frontsection.
3. le ligure toy compi-ising al 'body having a head and consisting of a casing of flexible material and a soft filling for the casing, said 'i casing including front and side sections, the .side sections being secured tothe Vfront section along the sides and lower end thereof,
said front section having its upper end portion free from the side sections and extending to form a flexible lower avv for the head movable into and out of an open position,
yan insert of flexible material constituting the interior of the mouth and secured to,
