WILLIAM VIN GENT BUTTERFIELI), F GREENFIELCD, ENGLAND.
CORD GRIP FOR ELECTRIC FITTINGS AND APPLIANCES.
Application filed July 1, 1926, Serial No. 119,957, and in Great Britain July 14, 1925.
to or forming a part'of the lamp holder or the like, said head being arranged for the admission of the leads or flexible conductors from opposite sides of a central aperture and a plug adapted forinsertion between the leads to wedge or bind them securely to the said head, whilst maintaining them apart at the place where they are gripped.
Referring to the accompanying sheet of explanatory drawings Figure l is a sectional elevation of a head and plug as aforesaid and Figure 2 a plan of the same.
Figure 3 is a sectional elevation and Figure l a plan showing another form of such head and plug.
The same reference letters in the different views indicate the same or similar parts.
In the example shown at Figures 1 and 2, the head a of vulcanized fibre or other insulating material is screwed directly int-o the top of a lamp holder of which a portion is indicated at b. The said head has a transverse slot forming lateral grooves or apertures as 0 leading into the central aperture 0?. The outer end of said central aperture d is threaded to receive the screw plug 6 having a tapered inner end as shown. The leads or flexible conductorsindicated by let ters f are threaded through thelateral apertures a and thence passed by way of the central aperture (Z to the interior of the holder 5 where, in the usual manner they are attached to the terminals or'like parts, not Shown. By means of the screw plug e the leads are kept separate as illustrated and securely wedged or clamped to the head a.
In the example shown at Figures 3 and 4: the head a forms a part of the lamp holder itself, but in other respects it is similar to the example given by Figures 1 and 2.
What I claim is 1. In cord grips for electric fittings and appliances, the combination comprising an insulating head piece having a central aperture extending therethlough and a trans- 6O verse slot forming lateral grooves extending from the opposite sidesof the head piece to the central aperture, electricity conducting cords passing through said lateral grooves and central aperture, and a plug 66 screwed into the outer end of the said central aperture and seating upon the said conducting cords, as set forth.
2. In cord grips for electric fittings and appliances, the combination comprising a 70 holder, an insulating head piece in detachable connection with said holder and head piece having a central aperture extending therethrough and a transverse slot forming lateral grooves extending from the opposite sides of the head piece to the central aperture, electricity conducting cords passing through said lateral grooves and central aperture, and a plug screwed into the outer end of the said central aperture and seating upon the said conducting cords, as set forth.
3. In cord grips for electric fittings and appliances, the combination comprising a holder, an insulating head piece integral with said holder and head piece having a central aperture extending therethrough and a transverse slot forming lateral grooves extending from the opposite sides of the head piece .to the central aperture, electricity conducting cords passing through said lateral grooves and central aperture, and a plug screwed into the outer end of the said central aperture and seating upon the said conducting cords, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 9 name to this specification.
