PATENT oFFlcE.
.moon MLLER, or SIEGEN, GERMANY.
L OOSE LEAF T BE USED WITH A CARBOLEOR BOOKKEEPING MACHINS OR THE LIKE.
Application ledMay 11, 1927, Serial :Nm-190,628, and in Germany January 24, 1927.
s. In bookkeeping machines or the like, it frequently happens that the carbon sheet to be usedl with a loose leaf successively receive ing the single entries gets displaced or bentover at its corners'whereby the blank spaces vat the sides of the leaf are soiled or the entries are incorrectly copied, while besides it is tiniefwasting and .cumbersome to place the carbon sheet in its proper position. on the leaf and so introduce leaf .and carbon sheet into themachine forV eachsingle entry to `be made. The present invention provides improved means by which the carbon sheet is securely fastened in its proper position on the leaf before its introduction 'into theinachine .and not removed therefrom until the leaf has been completely filled-up. Y
The accompanying drawing illustrates the improvement: Figs. l and 2 are plan views of the leaf, with and without the carbon sheet thereon, while Fig. 3 lis an enlarged cross-section through the upper and lower lends of the leaf with thecarbon sheet on the 'line 3-3 of Fig. 2. I
The leaf a is on` both Sides provided with blank longitudinal marginal spaces b, c and with holes Z for thereception of file pinos, the carbon sheet f of equal height to that of-said leaf and o f a breadth required for the entries to be copied being fastened to said leaf before introducing it into'the-lnachine.
Y To this end, the carbon sheet is at its upper and lower ends provided with inwardly dii rected pockets g' which can he fitted over that part i of upper andlower ends of ing blank longitudinal marginal spaces at 57 .whole breadth of the leaf at the upper and f? the leaf a located between said blank spaces b, o and bounded by slots lain said ends of a depth corresponding to that of the pockets g. Said ends z' are provided with a de- 4o taching line, for instance with'small perforations c or the like, running over the whole breadth of the leaf a at a distance from the upper and lower edges of the latter corre spondiingf to the depth of said slots It, for the purpose of detaching said ends i from the leaf before ling theilled-up leaf in aV binder or the like, so that, said ends, or their slots L, do not form any impediments but the leaf has then uninterrupted upper and lower edges.
What I claim, is: The combination with a leaf for bookkeeping machines or the like, said leaf havboth sides-thereof and that part of the upper and lower ends of the leaf located between said blank spaces being bounded by slots therein, of a detnching line running over the lower ends and at a distance from the upper and lower edges thereof corresponding tothe depth ofthe slots therein, and a carbon sheet having inwardly directed pockets on its upperwand lower edges and fastened 2' therewith on said leaf by its pockets'einbrac-- ing the slot-bounded part of the upper and lower ends of said leaf.
n testimony. whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
-.moon MLLER.
