This invention relates to snow plows such are attached to vehicles and serve to remove the snow by the movement of a fixed mouldboard with the vehicle. Plows of this character havegenerally bcenof two types in one of which the mouldboard is disposed generally at an angle to the line of travel of the vehicle and by its conformation is in tended to deflect the snow to one side and in 10 the other of which the mouldboard is of shape and has its faces disposed at angles to the direction of travel of the vehicle and is integral with an inclined platform. The
first named type has had the disadvantage of limited usefulness in deep snow and both types have had thedisadvantage of irreversibility in that no control is provided to meet special conditions as by throwing the snow to one side or the other of the vehicle as may be desirable. Further, no plow of this type has been provided which is comparatively inexpensive to manufacture and susceptible of ready adjustability and reversibility to meet changing conditions of use. It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a plow which shall be essentially of the second named type in that it is proposed to provide an inclined platform to lift the snow somewhat, but its novelty resides in the provision of a separate mouldboard of suitable configuration made in one or more sections which is adjustably and detachably mounted on the platform so that its angularity and direction of throw may be quickly and conveniently changed without impairing the functions of the mechanism considered as a whole. A fur ther object of the invention is to provide an adjustable snow plow of this character which may be so mounted. on a vehicle as to be raised or lowered when necessary so as to change the position of the cutting edge.

This mechanism is not new and forms no part of the present invention. On the platform 35 a is sruqported a mouldboard b of any desired configuration such as the concave form illustrated. In accordance with the invention it is proposed to mount this separate mouldboard detachably and adjustably on no the platform so that its angle of incidence may be varied as required and its position on the platform may be changed to throw the snow to one side or the other of the vehicle depending upon local conditions. 05 Since the configuration merges with the in clined platform a the two parts when united form essentially a single unit co-operatmg to direct the snow upwardly and outwardly. Another aspect of the invention is the use of a. mouldboard as a detachable section on an inclined platform. For instance, if it were desired to direct the snow outwardly to both sides of the vehicle two short sections might be mounted on the platform a with reverse inclination meeting towards the lower front edge of the platform and extending rearwardly and upwardly towards the bolt holes cl, d. It two such sections were provided either one of them might be removed.
The action of the improved plow in use is such that the benefit of lift and side detiee tion is obtained so that drifts of considerable depth may be handled in the way ordinarily practiced with such a type of plow.
Changes in the details of construction and assembly including particularly the various fastening devices employed may obviously be made by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim is:
1. In a snow plow, an inclined member adapted to elevate snow and formed with a cutting edge, a mouldboard mounted detachably and pivotally thereon and formed with a curved surface and extending across the inclined member from one side edge thereof to the other and disposed at an angle to the cutting edge to constrain snow to more oil the inclined member entirely to one side thereof.
2. In a snow plow, an inclined member adapted to elevate snow and formed with a cutting edge, a mouldboard mounted dctachably thereon and formed with a curved surface and extending across the inclined member from one side edge thereof to the other and disposed at an angle to the cutting edge to constrain snow to more oil the in clined member entirely to one side thereof and means to adjust the angularity oi the mouldboard to the cutting edge of the in clined member.
