i 4 the construction and operation olf gyratory crushers or the like.
An object et the invention is to provide an improved `yratory crueher or the lilfe, which is simple in construction, eilicient in operation, and which is especially adapted 'tor operation at relatively higgh epceiil.
`it clear conception ot an einhaiidimeht oi the invention and of the operation ol crue-hers constructed in accordance ther( vith, may he had hy reterrinf` to the diuwiiigu aecompanying aud forming a. part o'lL this speci- `ticatioi'i in which the various parte are desigi'iated hy suitable reterence churaciere.
'.lhe Single ligure oil? the dra/wing; is a central 'vertical section through an improved high speed gyratory Crusher.
The gyratory Crusher slviecilically illicitrated comprises generally a` stationary main trame lprovidingI a support for an annular concave 3, and a `eyintahle head 2 located within the frame Ll and cooperatiupl with the concave li to 'torni an annular downwardly eonvergin` crushing,v chamber 13. The main trame d is mounted upon either a 'flexibly supported or rigidly retained hase plate 2O lnivine` a linal discharge passage it) therein comuumicatingr` with the lower discharge opening` 18 of the crushing,` chamlwr lil. 'l`he hase plate 20 provides a support tor a central hearing ineniher 223 which may he lormed integral with or separable from either the 'frame l or the plate 20. An upright shaft t3 is rigidly attached to the hearing4 member 22% hy .means oli an end taper and a lociingj holt QA, the shaft 8 heilig eniln'aced hy a renewahle wearing,l bushing 7 which ,seciu'ed to the shalt 8 hy a locking clement 22 und a nut. coactinp,a with the upper extremity oli the shaft 8. The vupper portion el the 'iframe Ll provides a Support it'or a spider l2 ahove the inlet opening,- 17 leadingv to the crushing' chamber 13, and the spiderlQ has a centra here which provides a guide hearing; 2i, surrounding` hut spaced :trom the upper ende ot the stationary bushing 7 and sha'tt An eccentric 5 which reste upon a thrust hearing1 l@ associated'with the hearing member 23 has a medial eccentric portion emliuacing the bushing- 7 within the head 2, and has a coni mitting 1926. Flelil lilo. 109,454.
cent-rie upper portion liiling the space hetween the guide hearing; 2li and the upper` portion of the bushing 7. il. supporting' element G rests upon a thrust hearingl5 elated with the hearing member 23 and has an upwardly extemling,` eleeve portion which embraces the eccentric portion ei" the eccentric 5 and which is splined to the interior.' of the head 2. The head 2 ie supported upon jack screws lll which react against the supijiorting element G, these jack screweI le providing ineuna for vertically adjusting' 'the head 2 relative to the concave@ 3 and wit-hin the crushing' chamber The upper extremity of the eccentric 5 ie detachuhly ae cured to a drive .sha'l't Yll which is direct con-` ii'ieeted to e propelling motor 9 hy means olf a compiling l0. rlhe motor 9 is supporteifl upon an auxiliary 'trame mounted upon `the spider l2 and is located Some distance above the inlet opening 17 leading to the crusher. During normal operation oit the machine, the motor 9 is being operated to rapidly rotate the eccentric :5, thus imparting a gyratory motion to the head 2. rlhe material to he reduced ie admitted to the crushing chamher i3 between the arms et the spider l2 and through the inlet openinpi7 and is gradually reduced ae it Vadvances hy gravity through Vthe cruahiug chamber 13. rl`he re* duced material is eventually delivered through the diacharge opeuin lf3 and is com ducted troni the crusher through the linal discharge passage 19.
ll it is desired to vary the lineness of the discharged product, the jack screws lfl; may he manipulated to either raise or lower the head 2 within the concave Sil, the spline conneetingi' the head with 'the element t5 persuch .crtical adjustment. lhe thrust hearings lo, lli provided `tor the elew ment (i and eccentric 5 respectively, upon the hearing` nieinher 23, may he effectively lubricated hy placing' lubricant, within the cup lormed the upper extremity ot the memher lhe eccentric 5 may he i'reely removed from within the Crusher hy removing the Spider l2 and withdra ring 'the eccentric upwardly 'through the head suppi'ntinpr element 6, whereupon the bushing 7 may he conveniently replaced i'if necessary. Alfter the spider l2 and the eccentric 5 have heen re moved, the head 2 and the supportiupeletionary shaft 8 cooperating with the rigid lower attachment thereof, provides a rigid support for the eccentric throughout the entire length thereo'hand the operation et the Crusher at high speed enormously increases the capacity thereof.
It shouldlbe understood that it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact de tails oit' construction and Voperation herein Vshown and described, for various modifications within therscope of the claims may occur to persons skilled. in the art.
Y, `It is claimed and desired to' secure by Letters Patent: Y
