Applioation flled 1 m 22, 1926. Serial No. 103,669.
This invention relates generally to, necktie racks, the invention having more particular reference to a folding necktie rack.
The invention has for an object the provision of an improved necktie rack of slmple and cheap construction, and novel arrangement of parts. I
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularlyset forth.
Fig. 1, of the drawin ,is a perspective view of my improved fo ding necktie rack.
Fig. 2, is a similar view, showing a modification thereof.
Fig. 3, is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4, is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1.
As here embodied my improved folding necktie rack comprises a bracket, of any suitable shape and design, preferably provided with side elements 10, a. rear e ement 11, and a top element 12, at right angles to the said rear element 11.
The rack proper comprises end supports 13, and a plurallty of cross ,members 14, attached at their extremities to the said end supports 13,. so as to form a rack roper, over which the neckties, designated y the reference numerals15 may be hung or suspended.
- The end supports 13, are pivotally slidably attached, at one extremity, to a support bar 16, longitudinally located in the said bracket,
and extending between the said side elements 10, and securely held in place by means of thepins 17 having enlarged heads 18.
As a means of holding the said rack pro er in an extended, or vertical position, asil ustrated in Fig. 1, of the accompanying drawing, the end supports 13, are provided with an u per corner 19, located atits inner extremlty adjacent to the said top element 12 of the said bracket, it being understood that the said upper corner 19 will engage with the said top element 12 of the said bracket,-as clearly shown in Fig. '3, so as to securely'hold-the said rack proper .in anters Patent of the said rack proper may he slid along the support bar 16, and that the said upper corners 19, will enga e in the apertures 20, suitably located in t e upper member 12, when the said rack proper 1s swung downward or in' a vertica position. As a means of readily registering the said upper corners 19 with the a ertures 20', I have provided a tubular mem er 21, positioned. on the said support bar 16, as clearly shown in Fig, 4. Referring in particular to Fi 2, ofthe accompanying drawings in whlch I have shown a modification of my improved device.
The said upper corners 19,'will en age in the protruding recesses 22 suitably coated in the upper member 12, when/the said rack proper is swung downward or in a horizontal position.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letlows 1 1. A folding necktie rack comprising a bracket, a shaft mounted insaid bracket, a frame pivotally and slidably mounted on said shaft, stopping means for. limiting the upward movement of said frame having recesses therein adapted to accommodate the ends of the side members ofsaid frame, said frame being adapted to be heldin a substantially horizontal position by said stoppin means and to be moved longitudinally 0 said bracket for bringing the ends of the side member of said frame into registration with said recesses for permitting said frame to fold downwardly by virtue of its weight from a substantially horizontal posithe United States is as fol-1 tion to a substantially-vertical position, and 1 a stop on said shaft for limiting the longitudinal movement of said frame for positively positioning the ends thereof in registration with said recesses.
2. A folding necktie rack comprising a bracket, end members on said bracket havmg openingsth'erein, a shaft fixed in said openings, a frame comprising a pluralit of cross-members having side .member's our naled at their ends on said shaft, 11. zontal plate on the upper side of said bracket having recesses therein, said plate bein adapted to engage the extremities of sai side members for holding said frame in a substantially horizontal position when the ends of said side members are out of'registhe movement of said frameforspositioning .tration with said recesses, said frame being said side member in registration with said shiftable to bring the'extremities of said recesses. a side members into registration ,with said In testimony whereof I have affixed my 5 recesses for permittinga downward rotation signature. r i
of said frameby virtue of itsown weight,
and a sleeve on said Shea adapted to limit JOSE MENDIOLAGOITIA.
