MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
MECHANICAL REFRIGERATION.
Application filed January '2, 1927. Serial No. 159,625.
My invention relates to mechanical refrigeration, and particularly to adjustable means for supporting an expander in compartments of various sizes in refrigerator cabinets, and the principal object of my invention is to provide newand improved means of this type. In the drawings accompanying th s specification and forming a part of this application I have shown, for purposes of 1llustration, two forms which my invention may assume, and in these drawings:
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of one embodiment of my invention,
Figure 2 is a horizontal section on the line 2-2 of Figure 1, while Figures 3 and d are similar views showing a second embodiment which my invention may assume.
The embodiment of my invention shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a refrigerator cabinet 11 having a refrigerating compartment 12 housing an expander 13 held therein by a support 14; which consists of two siinilar L-shaped plates 15 attached to the side walls of the door aperture 16 of the refrigerating compartment 12 by screws 17.
Associated with the plates 15 in overlapping relation is an additional plate 18 which is adjustably connected to the free ends of the plates 15 by means of bolts 19 passing through registering slots 20 carried by the several plates.
The plate 18 has a centrally disposed aperture 21 which engages over one end of the expander 13. The assembled plates 15 and 17 therefore serve as the sole supportfor maintaining the expander 13 in the compartment 12.
By making the plates with adjustable connections therebetween the support 14 is adapted to be used in compartments and with expanders of various sizes.
The embodiment of my invention shownin Figures 0 and 4 comprises a pair of L- shaped plates 22 and 23. One end of the plate 22 is attached to the top wall of the door aperture 2 1 while one end of the plate 23 is' attached to the bottom wall thereof. The free ends of the plates 22 and 23 overlap and are adjustably connected together by the bolts 25 adapted to be disposed in slots 26 and apertures 27 in the overlapping plates 22 and 23, respectively. An aperture 28 in the plate 22 engages over one end of the expander 13 whereby the latter is supported.
From the above disclosure it will be ob vious to those skilled in the art that I have provided adjustable means for supporting expanders in the refrigerating compartments of refrigerator cabinets.
It will also be obvious to those skilled in the art that the embodiments of my inven+ tion herein shown and described may be variously changed and modified without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and it therefore will be understood that the disclosure herein is illustrative only, and that my invention is not limited thereto.
I claim:
1. In a mechanical refrigerator, comprising a refrigerator cabinet provided with a compartment, with an openin affording access to said compartment, and with a door for closing said opening: means for supporting an expander within said compartment, comprising a plate, means for attaching said plate laterally of said opening, and means associated with said plate for engaging said expander for supporting it within said compartment.
2. In a mechanical refrigerator, comprising a refrigerator cabinet provided with a compartment, with an opening affording access to said compartment, and with a door for closing said opening: means for supporting an expander within said compartment, comprising a plate composed of adjustably connected sections, means for attaching said plate laterally of said opening, and means associated with said plate for engaging said expander for supporting it within said compartment.
3. In a mechanical refrigerator, comprising a refrigerator cabinet provided with a compartment, with an opening affording access to said compartment, and with a door for closing said opening: means for supporting an expander within said compartment, comprising a plate having an aperture for engaging said expander for supporting it within said compartment, and means for attaching said plate laterally of said opening.
4. In a mechanical refrigerator, comprising a refrigerator cabinet provided with a compartment, with an opening affording access to said compartment, and with a door for closing said opening: means for supporting an expander within said compartment, comprising a plate composed of adjustably con nected sections and having an aperture for engaging said expander for supporting it wlthin sald compartment, and means for attaching said plate laterally of said opening.
5. In a mechanical refrigerator, comprising a refrigerator cabinet provided with a com partment, with an opening affording access to said compartment, and with a door for closing said opening: means for support ing an expander within said compartment,
comprising-a plate, means for securing said plate to opposite sides of said opening, and
ml for closing said opening: means for supporting an expander Within said compartment, comprising a plate, flanges for attaching said plate laterally of said opening, and means associated with said plate for engaging said expander for supporting it within said compartment.
7. In a mechanical refrigerator, comprising a refrigerator cabinet provided with a compartment, with an opening affording access to said compartment, and with a door for closing said opening: means for supporting an expander within said compartment. comprising'a plate, flanges for attaching said plate to the walls of said opening, and means associated with said plate for engaging said signature.
