Application filed January 16, 1926, Serial No. 81,678, and in Great Britain November 10, 1925.
My invention relates to improvements in and connected with golf clubs, and has for its object to so construct the club as to effect a better and more secure fit of the socket 5 with the shaft of the club, thus strengthening the club at that part, and preventing an moisture from getting in between the sha t and the socket and thereby increasing the life of the club.
In carrying out this invention, I provide a metal or other band which is suitably fitted round the lower part of shaft immediately above the head of the socket and also round the head of the socket, or the band may form an integral part of the head of the socket. v
In order that my invention may be properly understood and readily carried into effect, I have hereunto appended one sheet of drawings, of which Figure 1 is an elevation of part of golf club illustrating my invention.
Figure 2 is a section through the band drawn to an enlarged scale.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the metal or other band, B the shaft of the club, and C the head, D being the cement for fixing the head C to the shaft B.
I claim:
A golf club com rising a head having a tubular shank provided with a circumferential recess around its upper end, a shaft having a diametrically reduced lower end portion fitted in said tubular shank and also provided with a circumferential recess corresponding to that of the shank and a band fitted in the said recess of said shank and said shaft and extending across the joint between them.
