In carrying out my invention, as herein shown, I provide the steam-turbine case 10 with a flanged inlet-port 11 leading into a ring-like steam-manifold 12 formed integral with the case 10. This steam-manifold serves to supply steam to a number of corresponding pairs of stator-fixture members, more or less in number, a description of one pair serving for all.
The inner wall 13 of the manifold 12'is formed with a passage 14 for the reception of: the threaded shank 15, of a stator-fixture member 16 constituting one of a comple mentary pair, the shank 15 being secured in place in the nut 17. 7
The outer end of the shank is formed with a rounded, circular, ofi'set seat 18 with which a valve-washer 19, mounted at the inner end of a valve-stem 20, co-acts. The said valvestem is provided with a hand-Wheel 21-and is threaded as at 22 for coaction withthe internal threads ofa valve-bonnet 23 mountwall 13 by means of a lock-,

For the purpose of directing steam into' the buckets 32, the steam-passage 26 of the stator-member 16 is intersected by a passage '34:, which in effect constitutes one of the nozzles of my improved turbine, the orifice 35 being in line'with, the inner edges of the y buckets, as is'the common practice, so that a View in 1ns1de elevation of thethe steam initially impinges against the inner ends of the buckets 32. and is by them deflected into the return-guidesv 36 of the stator-member I6'by means of which the jet of steam is caused to repeatedly impinge I and reimpinge against the buckets 32 as they pass by the member.
Similarly, the buckets 33 of the rotor 31 are acted upon by the steam which flows out of the L-shaped passage 27 of the member 28, through a passage 37 corresponding to the passage 34, whichhas its orifice 38 located with respect to the buckets 33 in the same manner as that of the orifice 35, with the exception that it is on the opposite side of the rotor. v V
\Vhile I have shown and described the members '16 and 28 as separate elements, I wish to have it understood'that they may be formed in one piece, though I prefer the conthe rotor Slby means of a single valve,

I claim: a 1. A steam turbine, comprising a casing; a rotor-clmmber formed therein; a steammanifold chamberalso formed in said casing adjacent the said rotor-chamber; a partition all between the two said chambers; a rotor mounted in said rotor-chamber; a two-part stator-tixture formed independent of the casing and having its parts respectively located within the casing on the opposite sides of the vrotor and each provided with a nozzle for directing steam against the adjacent face of the said rotor; at steam-passage traversing the two-part stator-fixture and passing through the said partition-wall; and a valvestem and closure for controlling the flow of manifold to the said nozzles. i 2. A steam turbine, comprising a casing; a rotor-chamber formed therein; a steammanifold chamber also formed in said casing adjacent the said rotor-chamber; a partitionwall between the two said chambers; a rotor mounted in said rotor-chamber; a stator-fixture adapted to straddle the rotor and having nozzles located on opposite sides thereof; a hollow shank formed on the said passing through the said stator-fixture and part-itionall; a steanrpassagc formed in the said stator-fixture for connecting the said hollow shank with the said nozzles; a valve stem mounted in the outer wall of the manifold in line with the said hollow shank; and a closure carried by the said stem for coaction with the outer end of the hollow shank for controlling the flow of steam from the manifold. to the said nozzles.
