This invention. relates to improvements in fastening devices and has for an object the provision of means especially designed for securing a storm or other sash within a window frame in such manner as toprevent thesaid fastening means 'from being visible at either side of the sash. Y
Another object of the invention is the provision o'a :fasteningl device which in addition to the above and other advantages, is simple in construction, reliable in use and may be readily and easily attached.
Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in. the appended claim.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is an elevation illustrating the use ofthe invention. Y
Figure 2 is an 'enlarged fragmentary sectional View on the line 2 2 of Figure 1.`
Figure 3 is a similar view illustrating the use of the invention in connection with a .Referring to the drawings in detail where-V in like characters ot reference denote cor' responding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a window sash within which is secured a storm sash, the frame of which is indicated at 11. Y
The fastening means comprises a pin 12 'which is driven into the frame 11 andheld against accidental removal by means ot' barbs 13. The pin is providedwith an annular'iiange 14 which forms a stop and limits the point at which the pin may be driven into the frame 11. The flange is spaced from the outer end of the pin and this end provides a stud 15 which isdesigned to enter a socket provided in the sash 10. The socket is preferably provided with a metal lining '16 to receive the stud 15.
The flange 14 is thin so that the frame 11 and sash 10 practically abut and the fastening device will not be visible from either the inside or outside ot the frame.
In the use of the invention in connection with a metal window frame 10 and a metal sash frame 11', the pin 12 is provided at one end with threads to receive a nut 17 which binds the flange 14 against the outer edge of the frame 11', while thestud 15 formed by the outer end of the pin enters an opening 18 provided in the window frame.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details oi' construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as `properly fall within the yscope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention what is claimed is window frame.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
