UNITED STATES v 1,651,205 PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS A. HIBBINS, OF VI'ELLSVILLE, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE STEVENSON COMPANY,
ROTARY KNIFE FOR HYDRAULIC Application filed July 24,
My invention relates to improvements in rotary knives for hydraulic or steam sewer pipe presses.
The object of my invention is to provide a rotary knife for a hydraulic or steam sewer pipe press arranged within the lower end of the die and adapted to be normally retracted 'so as ,to be in beyond a path with the inner face of the pipe, so as to allow a free passage.
I to of the pipe in its formation from the die,
and pertains particularly to a structure to be applied to my improved hydraulic sewer pipe press, and my improved die, as shown in the application Serial No. 124,741 filed July 24, 1926. Y I
" Another object of my invention is to provide a rotary knife of this character which is automatically moved outwardly by centrifugal force by the rapid rotation thereof, to cause it to sever the pipe close to its discharge from the die, and so constructed and arranged that the die head'can be forced up into the die to form a socket on the lower end of the pipe. 7
A further object of my invention is to provide a rotary knife of this character which can be readily assembled in the die of the form herein shown and fully set forth in my copending application heretofore referred to, and which can be readily removed for replacing any of the worn or broken parts.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a knife of this character which is very effective in its operation and willa-b solutely retract so that it will not interfere with the forming of the pipe an'd'the socket during the normal operation of the pipe press, and provide a knife having certain details of structure and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings F igure'l is a vertical sectional view the lower end of the clay cylinder showing the die carried thereby, and my improved knife applied thereto in its outward or cutting position. I a
Figure 2 is an enlarged top plan view partly in section of my improved knife.
Referring now to the drawings, 1 repre-. sents the lower end of the clay cylinder through which the clay is forced byvmeans of v the plunger head, all of which is fully shown and described in the application heretofore menueaed, and which needs no further de wipssa the laser at the relay area:
