This invention relates to that type of duplicator in rWhich a negative or reversed impression of the matter to be copied is 1mpressed upon a gelatinous duplicating surface or the like and positive ,impressions taken therefrom by bringing sheets of paper or the like successively into contact therewith. Y
The invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of various devices, elements and parts, as set forth in the claims hereof, one embodiment of the same being illustrated in the aecompanying drawings and described in this specification.

In carrying our invention into .effect inl the embodiment thereof Which` We have selected for description `in this specification and Villustration in the accompanying dravvings,v weprovidea duplicator, the frame of which may be of any suitable type, such as for instance comprising frame members 12, in which are journaled rollers 13 upon Which an adhesive duplicating film 14 is adapted to be Wound. The `film 14 passes upivardandover a bed 16 securedbetiveenthe members 12, rollers 15 adjacent the `ends of the bed being adapted to prevent the yfilm fromscraping against the said ends when the rollers13 are rotated.
One of the rollers 13 forming part of our invention is shown in perspective in Fig. 5.
It comprises a body portion, around which the film is Wound, and a lug 2O at each end adapted to constitute a chuck-engaging journal.

A handle 55 is provided in the extension `53 to facilitate the manipulation thereof.

The operationV of ourwinvention is as follows: Upon the table-is placed, face downward, a sheet ofpaper bearing the matter upon which it is desiredto copy the matter transferred trom the original to the duplicating medium, so that one end of each of saidtsheets ot paper shall rest against the lower end 22 ot the table and the side edges of said sheets shall rest against the stops 31,
and the other end of said sheets shall restV againstthe stop 30, it being understood that the stops 30 and 31 are adjusted so as to permit the sheets ot paper to easily liebetween them. It it is desired to use paper of lthe same size. as the table, the adjustable stops 30 and 31 may ot course be removed. i It will be understood that the ends of the sheets of paper lie over the opening inthe floor ofthe table member, and that after the paper is placed in position the barb()v is swung into position over the ends of the sheets of paper. rihe original and theblank sheets ot paper being thus in place upon the table, the-pile of paper may if desired be steadied by placing the hand upon the same, although ordinarily thiswill not be necessary.` It isto be understood that the table is normallyin its lowered'position as shownin `Fig. 1. original matter to be duplicated,into contact with the `adhesive duplicating mediumv to which it will adhere.

In F ig. 1 of. the drawings 60 represents Va sheet of paper which has been placed upon .the paper table, and the end of. which'thas been depressed so thatl t-has yadhered to theduplicating band v14. The drawing shows the position of the paper just before the table be' gins its upward swing. "It will be clear from an'examination of this Fig'. y1 that as the table rises up, the sheet of paper 60 will be drawn off from the table, and out from underneath any other sheets of paper which may be piled thereupon, and that when the table has finally risenv into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, the sheet of paper Will lie fiat upon the duplicating band 14, ready to be passed over by the roller 54.
We do not limit ourselves to the particular constructionhereinabove described, as it is obvious that various modifications of the same may be made Without departing from the spiritand scope of the invention.
The advantages of the invention Will be obvious from What has been above said with regard to its construction and operation.
Having thus described our invention, What We claim as new and desire to Secure by Letters Patent is as follows:
1. The combination with a pair of frames and a spindle provided at each end with a chuck-engaging lug, of means adapted to journal said spindle in said frames, comprising a shaft rotatably mounted in each frame provided With a socket adapted to receive a lug of said spindle, and retaining means on one of said frames adapted to secure an end of said spindle in said journal, comprising a broken annular Wall and a lever pivotally attached to said frame adapted When in one position to avoid the break in said wall and to allow the end of a spindle to be inserted in or removed from the adjacent rotatably mounted shaft, and When in another position to close the break in said Wall and hold the end of the spindle therein.
2. The combination with a pair of frames' and a spindle provided at each end. with .a chuck-engaging lug, of means adapted to journal said spindle in said frames, comprising a shaft rotatably mounted in each frame provided ywith a socket adapted to receive a lug of said spindle, and retaining means on one of said frames adapted to secure an end of said spindle in said journal, comprising a broken annular Wall and a lever pivotally 'attached to said frame adapted when in one position to avoid the break in said Wall and signed our names the said DANHEISER and BALDAUF this 7th day of March, 1924, and said FEOHER this 11th day of April, 1924.-
