The invention relates to a valve tool for use in connection j with internal combustion engines, and more particularly totheclass of Valve spring lifters. l
The primary object of the invention is 4the provisionof a tool of this Character,where in the construction thereof enables its adjustment so asy to accommodate various sizes of valvesV and theirl springs within an internal combustion engine, so that the spring l for each valve can be lifted, to permit the withdrawal of thevalve with dispatch and Another object of the invention .is the provision of a tool of this character, wherein it is readily adjustable, so that the same can be applied` to the valve and the support for the springof said valve and maybe locked to sustain the valve spring compressed, to permit the freeing of the valve when mounted Within the internal combustion engine.
Another objectof the invention is the provision of a tool ofthis character, wherein the construction thereof is novel y1n form, so
as to render the same readily adaptable for varying styles of valves, springs and supports therefor. l j
Afstill further object of the invention is ,the provision, of a tool of this character, whereinl the gripping lelements or members' 'thereof are'readily and .easily adjusted to engagethe parts, that is the valve head j whether itbe perforated or slotted and the spring seat, so that the valve can be freed when within'the internal combustion engine, without excessive labory on the operator or user of the tool.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a tool of this character, which is extremely simple in construction, possessing butfew parts,these being readily adjustable,'thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, stron sive to manufacture. j
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination 'and arrangement of parts, as will be'hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying the claims hereunto appended.

Carried by the acute angularly disposed end portion 12 of the lever is a substantially goose-neck shaped arm 17, which is swingingly connected to said lever through the medium of the pivot 18. In the operation of the tool the brace is broken at the pivot 32 so that the claws or jaws 1 5 can be brought into engagement with the spring rest D and thereafter the arm 17. moved to overhang the valve B, whereupon the keeper 22 is engaged with the relic heed ot .sind ynlyeB and the handle terminal 11 is moved in a direction to canse C to compress and when in cornpressed position the brace isextended so that the links 29 and with each other` thereby holding the tool locked in applied position as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing.
To release the tool it is only necessary for the operator to engagethe grip 33 and break the brace outwardly, whereupon the tool can he manipulated for its removaly from engagement with the valve and thespring rest as will be apparent.
