Description

UNITED STATES THEODORE VALLIS, OF SOIPIO, AND OSCAR J. CASE, OF AUBURNQN. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN'PLOW-COLTER CLEANERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,784, dated June 2'2, 1875; application filed March 13, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, THEODORE WALLIS, of Scipio, in the county of Cayuga and State of New York, and OSCAR J. CASE, of Auburn, in the county of Cayuga and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plow-Gutter Gleaner, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a side view of a plow to which our improved cutter-cleaner has been applied. Fig, 2 is a top of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
A represents the beam; B,th'e handles, and O the plow, about the construction of which parts there is nothing new. D is the cutter, which is secured to the beam by a bow, E, and yoke F, in the ordinary manner. G is the wheel, the standard H of which is secured to the forward part of the beam A. To the gagewheel G, at a less or greater distance from its center, according as it is desired to give a less or greater throw to the cleaner, is pivoted the forward end of a rod, I, upon the middle part of which is formed a loop or arm, J, that projects downward along the side of the cutter D, the same loop being formed of one and the same piece with the rod I, which is bent into the desired shape. The rear end of the rod I passes through a guideeye, 7c, in the bow K that passes around the beam A, and is secured to it by a yoke, L, and by nuts. Upon the bow K may be formed more than one guide-eye, k, if desired, to enable the cleaner to be adjusted higher or lower, according to the depth at which the plow works in the ground. 7
By this construction, as the plow moves forward, the arm or loop J moves forward and back along the cutter D, and pushes off any THEODORE WVALLIS.
OSCAR J.- CASE.
