This invention relates to improvements in display devices for lubricating-oils and is a division of application Serial No. 43,194
fi'ledJuly 13, 1925. i I
'There area large number of different grades of lubricating oil on the market somev of which are of diiierent color and which vice is used for displaying the oil;
vary froin'tl e' very light to the very heavy grades. ';Tlie purchaser naturally desires to inspect the oil before he buys it, but-this: is diflicult'unless some specially constructed de- In the patent abo'veret'er'redto, I have shown ai'iToil dispensing apparatus with which I have associated an oil display device whichforms the subject of thepresent.

holes in the cover plate and rest upon the bottom-of the jars. The outside diameteroii the tubes is less than the inside diameter of the jars so that a thin cylindrical space is formedbetween the two. Long line-o-lite' lamps are positioned within the tubes andthe whole is covered by an ornamental cap.
The spaces between the jars and tubes are filled with lubricating oil of various grades and when the lamps are lighted, the light will shinethroughthe oil. and givea PlQEIS ing effect and at the same time show very clearly the color of the oil;
'tion, I will now proceed to describe the same in detail and referencef or this purpose will which the preferredembodiment thereof has been illustrated and in which:

An ornamental cap 20 which has a substantially semi-circular cross section and curved ends:
rests on the upper surface of the cover plate 5 and encloses the box 13 with its attached sockets. The upper ends of the bolts 9 extend through openings in the cap and the sired sign painted thereon with opaque paint.
When the cylindrical spaces 12 are filled r-with oil and the lamps 16 and 19 lighted,
the apparatus presents a very pleasing appearance'and the light shining through the oil disclosesthe color very clearly.
( Having described my invention what I claim as new is:
, 1. An apparatus for displaying lubricating oils comprising a base member provided with a plurality of recesses in its upper sinface, an open topped glass jar supported in each recess, a cover plate supported on the upperends of said jars,said cover plate being provided on its underside with recesses for the reception of the upper ends. of said 'jars and with openings concentric with the recesses, means for connecting the cover plate to the base, and a glass tube of smaller outside diameter than the inside diameter of the jar located concentrically within each jar and having its upper end extending above the cover plate. p
2. An apparatus for displaying lubricating oil comprising a base provided about its base having a plurality of recesses, an open topped glass arsuppOrted n each recess, a
cover member provided on its underside, with recesses adapted to receive the, upper open ends of the glass jars, clamping bolts extending from the cover member to the base member, said cover member having an opening concentric with each recess, and a glass tube extending through each opening and extending downwardly into the glass jars.
outer edge with a downwardly extending t supporting flange, the upper surface of said In testimony whereof I aifix my si nature. i
