Description

H. A. PERRY ET AL DISPENSING DEVICE Filed Dec. 1925 Patented Oct. 18, 1927.
- UNITED; STAT-ES] ATE T-0 M-I nrsrnivsrne nnvrcn.
Application filed December Our invention relates to bank slip dispensing devices and has for its primary objects the provision of a dispensing device of this.
character embodying such novel features of constructionwhereby plates containing 'advertising matter may be removably mounted thereon; the provision of a novel frictional means for holding the slips in a position so that they may be readily withdrawn by a bank customer but which prevents such freedom of movement of the slips as to create a waste of same by the unpreineditated Withdrawal of more than'one slip at a time; and further the invention aims to'provide a device of this character which is of. very simple, economical and elii'cient construction.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be developed in the course of the following description. The various fea{ in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this specification. For a, better "under-"' standing of the invention, however, reference should be had to the accompanying drawing which illustrates the now preferred 'einbodiment of the invention. It is to be understood, however, that we do'not propose to limit ourselves to the precise structure shown and described but reserve the right to make such changes and modifications therein as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. I
In the drawings,
V Figure 1 is a perspective view of a d vice constructed in accordance with our invention and having duplicate dispensing sides; Figure 2 is a fragmentary cross section through one unit ofthe device shown in Figure 1.; Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view on the line 33 of Figure 2; and Figure is a sectional detail in perspective. I
Referring specifically to the drawings, wherein like reference characters denote similar parts in all views, numeral 1 indicates the casing orhousing having end walls 3, a bottom wall 2 and atop wall 1-. The two sides of the casing are open and receive the glass faced plate 5 which is divided into spaces for advertising matter. The glass plates 5 may be in one piece or in sectionsas may be deemed most expedient. The end walls 3 have their edges slope inwardly toward thetop of the box so as to better dis-v play the advertising matter upon the plates 5 2, 1 25. Serial no? 72,734.
flush with the the plane ofthe edges. of the end'walls 3 is a flange 6 which is clearly indicated in Figures '2 and 3. This flange 6 forms a baclring'for the. advertising plate 5;
' Aglass shelf 7 is disposed at each side. of
the casing 1 such-shelves-being s'upporte'dby plates 8.- The plates 8 are reinovably secured to upwardfianges 2 of thebottom 2 and have end clips 9 forguarding and-spac'edly supporting the shelves? from the plates.
Also, each of-the backing flangesG has an outward bottomledge 6 to form a support for the glass faced" advertising plates 5,
which are encased in frames 5, While'the inner ends of the lateral .clips 9f form an abutment or guardtherefor. A eover 10 having an overhanging marginal flange 10 acts to snugly retain the glass faced'advertising plates 5 against the upper portion of the flange 6. l/Vhen it is desired tofmove the advertising plate 5 it is only necessary to remove the cover 10 andrdraw' the advertising plates outwardly so that they may be lifted fromthe pocket formed by the 'glass' shelf 7 7 its end clips '9 andthe flange 6i Two series'of standards ll are supported by the bottom'of the casing in spaced parallel relation the rolls of bankslips to be dispensed are mounted on these standards. description of one set of standards and the relation of the rolls thereto will suffice as they are exact. duplicates. The standards 11 may if desired be mounted upon a base plate l1 shown in the drawings, the ad- \"antage of this being that the staiulards can be readily removed. The opposed surfaces of each standard are slotted as indicated at 12 to receive the projecting ends of the pintles 13 of the spools 13 on which is wound i the tape or ribbon of paper 14 which is made up of a series of connected slips.
y The height of the ledge 6 of the flange.
opening. Each of the plates 8 is provided adjacent its outer edge with an opening 16 so that a customer can by the use oflns The paper grooves 12.
weights rest upon the roll of strips 14 and finger pull the paper 14 outwardly sufliciently so that theendwill project through the space between the plates 8 and the shelf 27 and beyond the edge of said shelf so that it may lie-grasped. The lower outer edgeof the spool 13? as to either unroll aplu- V rality of slips as a result of a short pull on the end of the strip or to withdraw the end of the strip from the opening 16 as aresult of jarring the casing 1, we have-provided weights 17 whose trunnions 17f rideiin the The lower sections of the this surface is very smoothso as not to tear orotherwise' injure: the slips. It will be readily appreciated that the use of these weights li will prevent any undesired rotation of the spools 13 and at the same time will not in any wayhamper or prevent a customer from readlly getting the desired In replacing or removing the spools 13" a it is only necessary to remove the cover 10 and rock the glass faced advertising plate 5' outwardly so that it can belifted from the pocket formed the lower part of the flange 6 and the inner edge of the shelf 8 and its clamping pieces 9.
Having thlSdGSCllbGCl our invention, what we claim as new and desire to. secure by Letters Patent is 1. A dispensing device of the class de:
scribedcomprising a casing having an open- I pocket.
ing in one side through which the material to be dispensed may be inserted, a closure plate for said opening, supporting means for said plate, a slotted guide projecting from said casing through which the material is designed to be withdrawn, the inner transverse edge of said guide cooperating with said plate-supporting means to define a pocket for one edge'of said closure plate and movable means engageable with said closure plate for removahly holding 1t 111 said pocket.
2. A dispensing device of the class 'de-- scribed; comprising a casing having an opening in one side through which the material to be dispensed may be inserted, a closure plate for said opening, supporting means for said plateya rest projecting from one through which the material may be withdrawn and over saidrest a shelf spacedly supported upon said rest, meansfor clamping said shelf to said rest, said shelf with said plate supporting means defining a side of said casing, the latter having a slot pocket for one edge of said closure plate and a i movable means cooperable'with said closure plate for removably holding t in sa d The structure said movable means COIDPIISIHg a cover for said casing having a depending flange, said flange bearing against said closure platefor retaining the same in saidpoelcet and against said supporting means.
In testimony whereof weaflix our; signatures.
