CARTRIDGE MAGAZINE.
Application filed August 23, 1921, Serial No. 494,550, and in Hungary June 8; 1918,
is well known, attachable cartridge magazines, adapted to receive a large number of cartridges, are of very great importance in connection with small firearms, such as the repeating rifle, especlally at certain perlods of the fighting, still-theyhave the disadvantage of'resulting otherwise inmuch waste in the ammunitlon.
The subject ofmy present invention is a cartridge maga-zlne, adaptedzto receive a large number of cartridges which magazine can be adjusted however so as to deliver either all the cartridges or only a portion thereof, as wanted. p
According to the present invention this is attained by providing a catch which pro trudes into the path of the feederplate and which can be eitherinserted or withdrawn.
*ed thereby, to deliver those'cartridges to the breech, which are still left in the magazine While with the catch withdrawn, the
feeder-can deliver tothe'breech all the cartridges, which are in the magazine. a
On the drawin one embodiment of my in vention is shown by way ofexample.
' Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section and M Fig. 2 the inner view of apart of the narrower side partition of the cartridge magazine.
T 40 zine.
v In the repaid]; of partition '0, there is would jump out ofthe magazine.
The feederplate b of the cartridgemag.
located anadjustable catch g, which by the aid of the knob it can be freely adjusted so j as to project into'the path of nose 6 (Fig. i 1). In this case thefeedingplate can proceed,,only so far, until the nose e comes into engagement with the catch g. When how ever the catch is turned about an angle of 90 Idegrees (Fig. 2) and thus is Withdrawn fromv the groove (Z, the'nose e is allowed an unre- 5o strained motion and the feeder can deliver all the cartridges, contained in the magazine.
The adjustable catch 9 is arranged in such a part of the side partition 0, that thefeeder from its lowermost position up to the shoul- .der, formed by the catch 9 will feed the wanted number of cartridges, which number in most cases corresponds by the usual loading frame.
The arrangement, according to this invention, also serves to fix the feeder in the cartridge magazine, whenthe magazine is removed from the rifle, because otherwise in this case the feeder. as well as its spring Of course, it is possibleto arrange more than onecatch in the magazine shoul-d'the feeding of more thantwo different sets of cartridges be Wanted.
I claim as m invention: An attacha le cartridge. magazine for. rifles and similar fire-arms comprising, in combination with thefeeder-plate and the feeder-spring acting upon the said feederplate, a movable catch for the-feeder-plate" mounted on said magazine intermediate the ends of the stroke of the feeder-plate, and] means for moving the catch into or'out of the path of the said feeder-plate.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
Ruponr VON FROMMER.
