tube and draft-tube manifold, to the sides of the hood, and from the top of the hood to an edge 61 on each side of the engine and spaced from the air deflector 46 in order to allow the air entering the hood to pass out of the hood and be drawn into the air'streainindicated'by arrow 57 The partition 60 car-- ries a baffle 62 surrounding the draft tube 24 at the rear side of the rear cylinder. The partition 60 and baffle 62 are not always necessary, especially where the airdischarged from the fan can readily pass around the engine frame.
While the form of embodiment of the invention as herein disclosed, constitutes a preferred form, it is to be understood that other forms might be adopted, all coming within the scope of the 'claimsiwhich follow.
\Vhat is claimed is as follows 1.In an automotive vehicle comprising a frame and an engine carried adjacent .the front end of the frame, a hood enclosing the front, top and sides of the engine, dash and toe boards enclosing the rear of air-cooling means for the engine including a fan located ad acent the clashboard and above the engine flywheel at the rear of the engine, and means for causing currentsof air created'outside the engine hood by the'motion of the vehicle to draw out from the engine enclosure the warm air discharged by the fan.
2. In an automotive vehiclecomprising a frame and an engine carried adjacent the front end of the frame, a hoodenclosing .thefront, top and sides of the engine, dash and toe boards enclosing the rear of the engine, air-cooling means for the engine including a fan located adjacent the dashboard and above the engine flywheel at the rear of the engine, and an air deflector located in the path of the air current pro-' duced adjacent the bottom of the engine by :the motion of the vehicle, for causing said air current to be deflected downwardly adjacent the rear of the engine whereby to cause the warm air discharged'by the fan at the rear of the vehicle to be withdrawn from the engine enclosure.
3. In an automotive vehicle comprising a frame 1 and an engine carried adjacent the front end of the frame, a hood enclosing the front, top and sides of the engine, dash and toe boards enclosing the rear of the en gins, air-cooling means for the engine including a fan located adjacent the dash board and above the engine flywheel at the rear ofthe engine, and means tending to prevent the warm air discharged from the fancoming in contact with the engine cylinders.
4. In an automotive vehicle comprising a frame and an engine carried adjacent the front end of the frame, a hood enclosing the front, top and sides of the engine, dash and fan located at the rear end of the manifold and adjacent the dashboard, and means tending to prevent the warm air discharged by the fan from entering the draft tube. v 5. In an automotive vehicle comprising a frame and an engine carried adjacent the front end of the frame, a hood enclosing the front, top and sides of the engine, dash and toe boards enclosing the rear of the engine, air-cooling meansfor the engine including a draft tube surrounding the side walls of the cylinders, a draft-tube manifold and a fan located at the-rear end of the manifold and adjacent the dashboard, means including louvers located at openings in the front of the hood, and inclined upwardly toward the rear of the vehicle for preventing the warm air discharged by the fan from entering the draft tube.
6. In an automotive vehicle comprising a frame and an engine carried adjacent'the front end of the frame, a hood enclosing pendent on air currents .produced outside the engine hood during the motion of the vehicle for withdrawing the fan .discharge from the engine enclosure.
7. In an automotive vehicle comprising a 7 frame and an engine carried adjacent the front end of the frame, a hood enclosing the front, top and sides of the engine, dash and toe boards enclosing the rear of the engine, air-cooling means for the engine including a draft tube surrounding the side walls of the cylinders, a draft-tube manifold and a fan located at the rear end of the manifold and adjacent the dashboard, for producing a circulation of air upwardly through the draft tube and outwardly from the fan, and means for utilizing air currents produced by the motion of the vehicle for withdraw ing from the engine enclosure the heated air discharged from the fan.
