COMBINATION HAIR com; AND maven.-
Application filed January 25, $26.. Serial No 83,638.
My invention relates to improvements in devices for combing and brus ing the hair, and it consists in the combinations, construc tions, and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is'to provide a combination comb-and brush with which one mav perform the two operations of combing and brushing the hair at the same time.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device ofthe type described which is easily held in the hand.
A further object ofmy invention is to provide a device of the type described in which the parts are so arranged as to be readily cleaned.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification. and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, in which Figure 1 is a face view of the device, and
Figure 2 is an end view of the device.
In carrying out my invention, I may make use of an suitable material, such as celluloid, hard rubber, or the like. I provide a body portion lhaving a handle 2, preferably of elliptical shape in cross section, this bandlev bein secured to the body portion by means of a neck portion 3, the edges'of which merge into the handle and body portions so as to form a groove 4 running longitudinally of the device and around the ends. This construction enables the fingers to get a firm grasp on one side of the handle and the thumb on the other side.
Secured to the body ort-ion 1 are bristles 5 and, as will be not these bristles vary in length from one side to the other. The
curve formed by the bristles of varying lengths is designed to fit the curve of the head upon which the brush is to be used.
At one side is an integral comb portion 6,
' with the the teeth 7 of which are inclined with respect tothe general directionof the bristles 5.
The ends of the slots or spaces between the teeth are indicated at 8. It will be observed that'there is a groove 9 which runs parallel reater dimensionof the device- From t e foregoing description of the vvarious parts of the device, the o eration thereof may be readily understo In use, the
handle is grasped in such a manner that the comb portion is in advance and it is moved along, the comb both parts bein hair so that the simultaneously. The curve formed bythe bristle ends permits the brush to lie close to the head while the comb is in operation. The groove 9 permits accessibility to the comb for the purpose of cleaning the same when desired.
in engagement with the preceding the brush, but
air is brushed and combed I am aware that a-combination brush and comb isnot broadly new, but I am not aware of any brush and comb in which the two operations .of brushing and combing may be performed simultaneously. I I I claim:
'A combination hair comb and hair brush comprising a body portion, a handle portion,
a neck portion securing said handle portion to said body portion, bristles on the opposite body portion having a groove at the base. of the comb extending from one end of the comb to the other.
