My invention relates to hose reels and more particularly to reels for garden hose. lThe principalobjectof my invention is to produce a reel which may be shipped in knocked-clown` condition and quickly re,-assembled without the aid of tools. Another object of my invention is to so design the parts that the ent-ire hose reel may be shipped in a fiat package if so desired. y
A still further object of my invention is to produce a light, strong land attractive hose reel that may be sold at a low price.

The trame comprises a U-shaped main trame 6 and an auxiliary frame or standard 7. The auxiliary frame is secured to the main trameby means of braces 8 having one end secured to each trame by a single rivet.
These rivets are driven snugly but not tighty so that the brace frame may be swung on the rivets it so desired. Holes 9 are provided in the ends of both the main and auxiliary frames wherein the axle 10 is mountof the drum is composed of two metal sheets 16, having slots near their corners which correspond to the slots 13 in the rings 12. The drum is held together by means of the spokes 17 which pass through the slots in the metal sheets rings. respectively,'as I plainly illustrated in Figure 5. Each spoke is provided with a hole 18 in its center wherein the drum axle 19 may bev inserted.
VVhile the component parts ofthe drum 'frame and Aof the main frame have been described as being riveted together, vit will be readily understood that bolts, screws or other suitable means may be employed. l
Assuming that the hose reel'has been shipped flat and thatfthe drum is in the condition as illustrated in Figure 3, the rings The sheets 16er@ then slipped overthe ends of the spokes and the other two-spokes are inserted through the other slots and the spokes so adjusted that the holes18 coincide. The `trame 6 is provided with holes 20 through which the axle i may be inserted. The axle is inserted through ahole 20 in one side of the frame 6'and a spacer 21 slipped on to the axle. The Vaxle is then pushed through both sets of spokes, a second spacer slipped on the axle, which is then passed through the hole Q0 in the other side of the trame. A spacer 21 is provided between each end of the drum and the frame in ordery to assure that the drum will rotate freely in the frame.
' The frame 6 may be shipped lat by swinging the auxiliary frame on the rivets, which secure the braces to the two trames, so that it lies parallel with the main frame. The U"- shaped part of each trame is grasped in either hand and pulled apart until the holes 9 coincide, the axle 10 is then inserted through these holes and the wheels mounted on the axle. Inserting the axle through the holes 9 produces a very rigid main frame.
In carrying out my invention it is important that. the slots 13 in the rings 12 and the corresponding slots in the sheets 16 be punched with precision so that the edges of the spokes bear on the outer edges of the slots in the sheets, and thus hold the drum rigid and .true to form.
