Description

v p 1927' w. STAHLECKER SPQINNING MACHINE Filed Au 5 1925 Patented Sept. I 27, 1927.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SPINNING MAGHIN E.
Application filed August 3, 1925, Serial No. 47,920, and in Germany August 1, 1924.
My invention relates to spinning machines and more especially to the arrangement of the spindles in such machines. It is an obj ect of my invention to provide an improved arrangement of the spindles, more especially in machines of the self actor type.
In the drawings aflixed to this specification and forming part thereof, a device embodying my invention is illustrated diagrammatically by way of example in vertical section.
Referring to the drawing, 03 is a block in which chambers c, c, c" are provided for the reception of the bushes b of the s indles, one of which is indicated at 1'. he bushes b in which the spindles are supported with the interpositions of antifric tion bearings Z, are not inserted in separate casings, but are directly secured in the chambers of the block d. This arrangement has the further advantage of enabling the chambers for the reception of the bushes b to be connected by a common passage d which is filled with lubricating oil through a channel e. The oil rises in the chambers 0, 0', c" as far as the overflow passage which is disposed at a higher level than the hole (4, in each bush I) through which oil is a mitted to the interior of the bush and rises along the spindle 1'.
I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the exact details shown and described, forvobvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
. As will be apparent from the drawing,
the lower end of the spindle h only is im-' mersed in the bath of'oil which passes into the bush or bolster and, owing to the rotation of the spindle, a small quantity of the oil travels upwardly along the spindle to the roller hearing at the top of the bolster.
This, film of oil, so to speak, is quite sufficient to lubricate the anti-friction bearing Z. The bearing, however, prevents the escape of the oil by virtue of the fact that the rotation of the rollers displaces the oil from the spindle and causes it to pass over to the inner surface of the bolster along which it travels downwardly to the lower portion of the same. Under such conditions, the oil can not escape from the bolster and the spinning frame is kept clear of the lubricant, a result which is accomplished only in prior constructions by the provision of guards for insuring the return of the oil to the rail chambers exteriorly of the bolster.
I claim 1. In a spinning machine, the combination of a rail having a series of closely related chambers constituting oil reservoirs, a bolster unitseated directly in each of said chambers and provided with an oil feeding opening at its lower portion, and means at 05 its upper portion for preventing escape of the oil from the bolster, said means constituting a bearing for the spindle,
2. In a spinning machine, the combination of a rail having a series of closely related chambers constituting oil reservoirs, a bolster unit seated directly in each of said chambers and provided wlth an oil feeding opening at its lower portion, and an antifriction bearing at the upper portion of the bolster for preventing escape of the oil from the bolster, said bearing coacting with the oil fed along the spindle to displace said oil from the spindle and return the same to the lower portion of the bolster so within the same. I
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
WILHELM STAHLECKER.
