* UNITED STATES MncHANmALtY-OPERATED FIGURE TOY.
v Application ledM-ay 13,
This invention relates generallyl to coin slot machines used to amuse orinterest the public ingeneral, the inventionv havingmore particularreference to a novelrtype ofvcoin slot machine. Y f Y i An object ofy thefinvention is .theprovision of an improved slot machinefin 'which figures or miniature people, and objects may be moved or operated when acoin is `inserted and a handle turned. l `The invention has for furtherl object the provision ofan improved coin slot-machine of Anovel construction andrarrangement of parts.
For further comprehension of thejinvenVn tion, .and of `the..ob jec t and advantages thereof, reference will -be had to the vfollowing .description and accompanying f drawing, andJtc the appended claimsin which the 4va-l rious novel. .features 'ofthe invention fare more particularly set forth. ,y Y Fig. 1, Aof the drawingsis a perspective yview of my-improved 1 coin -slot machine,
. showing certain parts removed sofas to expose certain interionparts.
Fig. 2, is a vertical sid sectional view thereof. Fig, 3, is a longitudinal sectional. viewv taken on the line 3-'8 ofFig. 2. v 1.
Fig. 4, is an enlarged sectional detail view, of the operating handle kandconnected parts.'
Fig. 5, is a similar view of the-countershafts, gears and pinions.` Ashere embodiedfmy improved coin sloty machine embodied 'as container 10, ofboxlike construction, ofA anysu-itable size, .and havingan inclinedjor slanting elemeritll, provided with an eye piece12, ofaV-suritable shape, having a transparent member .13,y glass, Celluloid, or the like, suitably attached thereto. .7' j l. ag
The shaft 14, is attached to the partition 16, of the container 10, as at 15, and extends through the container '10, and has slidably mounted thereorna clutch member 17, provided with radial serrated teeth 18, a pinion 19, and a circumferential groove 20. `The operating handle 21, is attached to the tube 22, by the crank 23. The tube 22, is rotatively mounted on the shaft 14, and is held in a fixed lateral position by the collars 24, attached to the tube 22, and located adjacent to either side of the container '10, and is provided with radialserrated teeth 25. The clutch lever 26,- is pivotally attached, as at 27, to a suitable support 28,'attached to 1926. serial No. 108,730.
the partition 29, of the container 10, and is providedwith a forkedextremity 30, having extendedfelements 31, adapted to engage the circumferential groove 20 of the clutch member V17. vThe clutch lever 26., is provided with an-exten'ded portion 32, having its extremity 33,located or vpositioned directly below the .lower extremity 34, of the vertical tube 35. The vertical tube 35, extends upward, and
through the inclined element 11 of the container 10.
v. The counter shaft 38, is rotatively mounted inthe support 40, and is located or positioned thereon, bythe collars 39, located adjacent to thesupport 4 0, attached as at 41, by screws,
bolts, orthe like, to the container 10, so as to rotativelysupport the shaft 38, The gear 41 and theV pinionf42, are attached to` the shaft V38. The `pinion 42 meshes with the gear. 43, rotatively mounted on the shaft 44, and has attached thereto a pinion 44, the
gear 43 and the pinion '44 being positioned 'otally attached to ythe. pinv 55, ydepending rfrom the fmovablegmember' 56, pivoted. at
or neary its center, as at 57, `to the container 10, adapt-cd to cover or'enclose the lower portionfof the'ccntainer 10.` The rods 59', are
pivotally attached to the movable member 56, as yat 60, and are pivotally attached as at 61, to any desired objects, figures representing people, men. women, or children, at work, dancing` or performing any interesting or amusingattitudes. It being understood that the said rods 59 may also be simi- .larly attached to a ratchet 62, engaging with a ratchet wheel attached to a roller 63. so as to move a belt 64, extended over the roller 65, so as to move objects (5G, attached there to, forward and backwards.
The above described construction being such as will permit a coin, when inserted or dropped inthe vertical tube 35,' to permit and jlccatcd below vthe support 58,
the lever QG to engage the above mentioned mechanism, so as to allow the handle 21 When turned or rotated to move the above mentioned iigures and objects. It being understood that the above mentioned gearing is ol suitable proportions to cause the extended element fl-T to engage with the lever 2G, when the handle lias been turned or rotated sixty rinolutions. so as to disengage the above mentioned mechanism.
Thilo I have above described the preferred 'torna construction and arrangement of the various elements employed. it will be understood that the device is, nevertheless, susceptible ot conside `able modification therein. and l' therefore reserve the privilege ot resent-,inn` to all such changes as may be 'fairly embodied Within the spirit and scope ot the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent ot the United States is as to] lows l. In an amusement machine of the class described, a container. a horizontal platform mounted in said container between the upper and bottom ends thereof. a plurality of linures comprising pivotally attached parts mounted on said horizontal platform spaced apart lonnitudiinilly and laterally thereof; a platform pivotally mounted below said horizontal platform adapted to be rocked upon. a horizontal axis, and a plurality of levers opcrativel)T connected at their upper ends with the pivotallv attached parts of said igi'ures and pivotally attached at their lower ends to said pivotally mounted plat- Vtorni on opposite sides of said axis for siniultaneously imparting various degrees of pivoted movement to the parts oi' the laterh ally and lone'itudinally spaced figures.
2. In a mechanical toy oi the class dcncrihed, a horizontal platform. a. plurality ol lipjures rigidly attached atl their base to .said plat'lorm spaced apart laterally and longitudinally thereoi and eon'iprising pivotally attached parts. a platform pivotally mounted on a horizontal axis adapted to be rocked relative to the plane of said horizontal platilornn and means comprising levers operatively attached to said ligure parts at the upper ends and to said pivoted platform for simultaneously imparting pivotal movement to the parteI oi said laterally and longitudinally spaced figures when said pivotally mounted platform is rocked.
3. In an amusement machine ot the class described, a container havingl an opening' in the upper portion thereof adapted to permit observation of the interior ol said container, a horizontal partition disposed between the upper and lower walls of said container. a pivotally mounted platform disposed below said horizontal partition adapted to be rocked relative to the plane thereof, figures comprising pivotall37 attached parts mounted on and spaced apart through the Width and length of said horizontal partition and connecting means pivoted to said platform atI one end and operatively connected with said figure parts at the other end for simultaneousl)T imparting pivotal movement to the pivotally attached parte o'fi all of said tiem ures when said platform is rocked.
4. In an amusement machine ot' the class deseribeth a container having an opening in the upper portion thereof adapted to permit observation of the interior ot said container, a pivotally mounted platform having;r a hori izontal axis ot rotation. a stationary horizontal platform disposed above said pivoted platform. a plurality oi movable lieures cominrising pivotally attached parts mounted on said stationary platform. said figures being' spaced apart longitudinally oi said horizontal platform; a `i'iluralitv of levers operatively connected at one end to the pivotally attached parts of said .figures and at the other end to said pivoted plattornn said .levers and pivotally mounted plattorm beinp;
adapted to simultaneously impart pivotal movement to the pivotally attached parts ot' all of said figures. and operating: meehanism comprisingr a hand crank 'tor rocking;l said pivoted platform relative to the plane ot said stationary platform.
In testimony whereof I have atlxed my signature.
EUGENIO .'\GNELLI.
