This invention relates to improvementsin advertising devices and has relationgqmore particularly to a device of this kindespe-y cially adapted for display in public vehicles,
such as street lcars, trains, busses,- and the object of the invention to provide a device of this'kind embodying a movable part operating by the vibration of the vehicle incident -to travel and which 10 serves eiectively t0 attract attention vto the,
device and at the same time creatingamusement to the observer. v
The invention consists the details of construction and in the combinationand arrangement of the several parts proved advertising device whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simplier,
set forth. y
The novel' features of'my-invention will definitely claimed. n i
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to de-A scribe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein .Fi ure .1 is 'a fragmentary view in elevation illustrating an advertising-device constructed inV accordance 'with an embodiment of my inventiomportions being in section;
- Figure 2 is a sectional view taken substan- I tially. on theline 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure hereinafter be 3 is a fragmentary' v1ew in rear elevation of-the. structure illustrated in. 'Figf ure '1;
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken substantially on the 4-4 of Figure 3. o i "As disclosed in the -accompanyingdraw- 40 ing, P denotesa plate of requisite dimensions ada ted to be suitably' itioned within'a pub 'c vehicle and whic. -is providedalong its u per and-lower margins with the inwar directedv anges 1 to providemeans where y thedsplay device may be effectivel .engaged therewith, said device being furt er held in applied or working position by the use of the well known springstrips 2.
. herein disclosed, .my'im roved device comprises ajcard C of suitab4 dimensions and having roduced thereon a representation 3 of a in the drawing as a face are cut out to face. The eyes of the less expensive and -eye openings 4 otherwisemore convenient and advantageous 20 for use, as -will be-hereinafter more fully' 4P and the card hicle r e,such ii' re being shown rovide the openings 4..'.reason I through which are a apted to be expose the eye representatives- 5 carried by'a-supple- 1,64z.611 FICE .mental plate 6. The plate 6 is arranged at j the rear of the cardC and has its upper porv tion centrally connected, as at 7, to the card C by a`suitable pivot member. This mounting of the supplemental plate 6 permits the same to readily swing incident to the vibrations of the vehicle when in transit, causing the eye representations 5 to have movement with respect to the eye'openings 4 and thus changing the expression of the representation 3 in a manner to attract attention to the card G and at the same time to aiord amusement to the observer.
The` extent of swinging movement of the plate 6 is limited by contact with the outstanding stop members face of the card C at opposite sides ofthe and in desired spaced rela- .tion therewith; .The lower or free portion ofthe' supplemental plate 6 is maintained against inward movement away from the card C by the clips 10 or rear face-of the card C and overl ing the opposite end portions of the supp emental plate' at' all times. y The'extremities ofthe card C are provided thereacross with the strips 11 which serve to assure the major portion of thel card C ThisV freedom ofthe plate 6 is furt erl assured by the thickness 'of the stopl members 9 which'alsohave contact with t e plate P. when thecard C is in a plied position.
v'While I have versel curvedand thev structure of the ve'-.I
