IMPROVEMENT lN SEWING'MACHINE FAN ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,120, dated June 8, 1875; application filed September 19, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, RAM Arwoon ABBOT, of New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented a new and Improved Fan Attachment for Sewing-Machines, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a standard arranged to fasten on the top of the sewing-machine table, and having a rotary fan and a balance-wheel mounted on a crank-shaft, on the crank of which is a long connecting-rod extending down to the treadle, with which it is to be detachably connected, so that the fan attachment can be readily put on and taken off at any time, and when on may be worked by the treadle by which the machine is worked.
The attachment is also applicable to turning-lathes, and all other machines worked by foot-power or having rotary motion.
Figure 1 is an end elevation, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation, of a sewing-machine with my improved fan attachment. 7
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the standard, which has a clip, B, fitting on the edge of the table at the back, with a set-screw, O, for fastening it under side, where the screw will not interfere with. the work. D is the fan-wheel, andE the balancewheel, mounted on the crank-shaft F, which is mounted in the top of the standard a suitable distance above the table to fan the operator while sitting at the machine. G is the rod connecting the crank-shaft with the foottreadle H, for working the fan by the same treadle that works the machine.
Havingthus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A fan attachment consisting of shaft F, having fan D and wheel E, standard A, having tubular bearin g at top, bar G, and treadle H, all connected with the same supporting-frame, as shown and described.
