ELECTRIC STOVE.
Application filed March 15, 1924. Serial No. 699,514.
- This invention relates to electrical cooking apparatus of the type of stoves and ranges. A
This invention has utility when incorporated in built-in electrical stoves for apart,- ments, houses and general kitchen uses.
Referring to the drawings Fig. 1 is a front elevation with parts broken away of an embodiment of the inventionas an electric range;
Fig.2 is a side view of the range of Fig. 1, parts being broken away; and
Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the range housing.
The room is shown as having a floor 1. A side wall 2 upwardly extends therefrom to form a straight wall .side region, which has continuous straight floor line 3.- Above this floor line 3 is opening 4 in the side wall 2. This opening 4, in its lower portion, has electric current supply conduit 5. .Overits upper portion this opening 4 has way or vent 6 as a flue section extending to riser flue 7.
This opening 4 is such that there may be freely inserted th-ereinto housing 8 having opening 9 in its bottom for registering with the conduit 5. There is also upwardly extending throat 10 from the housing 8 in communication with the flue section 6. This housing 8 has front opening 11 from which outwardly extend flanges 12, 13, to abut the wall 2 as surrounding opening 4. Should it be desired to further anchor the housing 8 against shifting as to the opening '4, such may be accomplished by bolts 14 through the flanges 12, 13, for engagement into the masonry, studding, or other framing for the opening 4.
This housing 8 is completed as apocket for a cooking unit preferably by a surrounding trim or endless flange comprising side sections 15 and end sections 16 connected by corners 17,"all anchored withthe flanges 2, 13, of the housing 8.
The range proper is shown as comprising a cooking section 18 having switches 19 in front of heating elements 20. Over these heating elements 20 are seats 21 for cooking vessels. Thelower front portion below the switches 19 has drop door 22 which permits opening into broiler section of this range. From the conduit 5 electrical connections 23 extend to distribution panel 24 backof plate 25 which may have automatic cut out.
switch 26,1ight 27 and stop clock 28, having controller 29. 7
From this panel 24 the elec rical connections extend to the series of switches 19 which series of switches 19, besides controlling the hot plate or cookingand broiling section, also control heating elements 30 in oven section 31. This oven section 31 is shown as provided with front door 32 having thermometer 33 therein. From the cooking section as well as from the broiling section there is vent back of the oven section 31. This Vent 34 discharges through the tliroat'lO. The hot plate section is herein shown as projecting slightly or partially from the housing 8. There is also shown as projecting from the upper trim section 16 a hood 35 takingfumes from the opening of the oven door 32 as well as any fumes from the cooking which may not pass by the vent 34. Such fumes as come into this hood 35 also pass by way of the throat 10 into the fines 6, 7. The opening or ventilation action may be controlled by damper 36 in the throat 10 controlled by bar 37 disposed in the hood 35.
The device disclosed herein is compact, provides a clear floor space and has full provision for the normal demands of household cooking. v I
