PORTABLE BLOWTORCH n w'rncnmnn'r. SUED Application filed August 2 1926. Serial No. 126,731.
Th s invention relates to a device designed for use in connection with blow torches to facilitate the use of blow torches for heating soldering irons or the like.
An important object of the inventionus to provide means for supporting irons, while they are'being heated by the flame from the blow torch, novel means being provided for dividing the flame of the torch to direct the flame laterally to cause it to contact with the irons supported on opposite sides of the burner. v I
Another important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character having means for holdingtl'ie irons prior to the heating thereof, the holding means being constructed to facilitate the handling of the irons. i 7
With the foregoing and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the com-' bination and arrangement of parts and in I the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes inthe precise embodiment of the inventionherein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimechwithout departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawings: Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through a device constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view through the upper portion of the'burner housing.
Figure'3 is a sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1. I
Figure t is a sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 indicates the base which may be constructed of any suitable material, and to which the lower ends of the supporting members 6-are secured.
The supporting members 6 are substan tially inverted U-shaped, the central portion thereof being provided with openings to receive bolts 7 that pass through the bottom 8 of the burner housing 9 to secure the burner housing in position,
The bottom of the burner v housing is 'formed with a notch 9 in the front edge thereof to permit the discharge pipe 10 to be moved forwardly so that the upper portion or burner which is indicated at 11 may vertical dividing plate 16 that has its for- I ward edge tapered as at 17 to divide the flame passing from the burner 11 to cause it to be directed laterally onto the irons which are supported on the transverse rib 18. forming a partcf the housing Located atthe forward end of the burner housing is a transverse bar 19 provided with a central offset portion 20 of a construction to fit over the inner extremity of the burn- I or, to hold the burner in its proper position.
Disposed at opposite sides of the burner housing and depending therefrom are supporting hooks 21 and 22, which may be employed for supporting the irons used in con nection with the device so that the person using the device may have easy access to the irons which may be handled with facility, from their locations on the support ing hooks. 1
It might be further stated that the rib 18 is formed with a central cutout portion 23 provided to act as a rest for the burner when it is positioned within the housing.
'In order that the device may be convenient-ly carried from place to place, a bail 24 is provided. U
It is thought that in view of the foregoing description a further detail description as to as to the use of the device is unnecessary.
I claim: 1
A heater including a base, supporting legs on the. base, a burner housing secured to the receive the burner 01 a blow torch, a rib Within the housing and having a cut out portion disposed centrally thereof and in alignment with the offset portion of the bar to receive the burner and hold the burner against lateral movement, a vertical dividing plate secured to the bottom and having one edge thereof arranged oppositeto the cut out portion to divide the flame from the burner positioned in the housing, and means for securing a blow torch to the base.
In testimony that I claim theforegoing as my own I have hereto ZLlTlXBd my signature.
CLELL S, KEPLER.
