To facilitate assortment, the papers, when placed in the carrier, may be folded up in such a way that the character of the message or the addresses ma be read through this window, although 0t ier means of identifica-,
tion, for example distinctive color may obviously be resorted to.
The invention will behest set forth by the detailed description which follows and the claims appended thereto. In the drawings:

Referring to the drawings, the carrier preferably comprises concentric telescoping shells 1 and 5 respectively, the inner shell 5 being closed at one end. A head 2 is attached to the closed end of the shell 5, said head being of usual type and comprising a felt bumper 3. This head 2 is furnished with a driving washer 4.
The outer shell is open at both ends, abutting the bumper 3 at one end, and has a head MESSAGE CARRIER.

This head comprises an annular bumper 3 which encircles the inner shell 1 and is held in place by an outturned flange 1" at the open end of the inner shell and a flange 3 at the endofthe outer shell. One or more rivets 6 hold the inner and outer shells in assembled relation. Shells 1 and 5'are'provided with registering openings 7 and 8 respectively constituting a window through which the contents of the device can be seen.v The insideshell 5 is provided with a'raised portion 9 to-Which one limb 11' of a flat spring is secured by any suitable means, for example byrivets 11.
11 as aforesaid, bent at -10 to provide a sec 0nd limb 12 substantially parallel to the limb 11 and which normally presses against the inner, surface ofthe carrier at the sides of the Widow. Preferably the bend 10 is directed-toward the open end of the carrier body and the free end of the limb 12 is bent toward theaxis ofthe carrier so asto facilitate interposition and withdrawal of a paper slip from between the limb 12 and'the wall of the carrier. Papers 13 are indicated in Figs. 1 and 2 in position immediately below the opening so that their nature may be observed readily through the window. These papers are held in this position by the portion 12 of the spring 10 as clearly shown in Fig. 2, the paper being readily inserted or withdrawn through the open end of the carrier.
The improved message carrier is simple in construction and is adapted to have its contents easily and quickly read without withdrawing them from the carrier, thus facili-v tating distribution as explained above.
The embodiment of the invention described herein is merely for the purpose of illustration, and I do not intend to be limpermanently open lateral Window through which the contents of the carrier can be inspected.
A message carrier for pneumatic tube systems having a permanently open lateral window, and a spring member mounted inside of said carrier substantially opposite to said Window for positioning the contents of the carrier with respect to said window so that their nature can be determined without removal from the carrier.

A message carrier for pneumatic tube systems having a permanently'open lateral window, and a spring member mounted inside of said carrier, said spring member having a portion parallel to the axis of said carrier and adjacent 'to said window for pressing the contents of the carrier against the inner surface of the carrier bordering said window so that the character of the contents of the carrier may be seen through the window.

A message carrier for: pneumatic tube systems comprising a tubular body open at one end and having a head at one end, the body having a lateral Window, a flat spring comprising a limb aflixed to the inner surface oi'the body at a pointsubstantial ly diametrically opposite to the window, and a limb substantially parallel to said first limb but disposed adjacent to said window and normally resiliently engaging the inner surface of the body bordering the window.

A message carrier for-pneumatic tube systems comprising a tubular :body open at one end and having a permanently open window in its side wall, and a spring clip within the body of the carrier, said spring clip comprising a fiat ribbon of resilient material bent to provide spaced substantially paral-lel,limbs,-one of said limbs being anchored to the wall of the carrier and the other limb normally pressing against the inner wall of the carrier at points adjacent to the window, the bend of the spring being directed toward the open end of "the tabular A carrier for pneumatic (dispatch .sys-
