R. J. CRAVEN cousmxuon BROOM AND noon HOLDER f/v var/ 70/? Patented July 19, 1927.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT J'. CRAVEN, 0F BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN.
COMBINATION BROOM AND DOOR HOLDER.
Application filed. July 6,
on offset ends forms friction-tipped legs when used for a door holder and friction clamping members when used the handle of a broom, brush ticle.
for engaging or other ar- Among other objects the present invention contemplates a device for the purpose that is simple in construction, economical to manufacture, neat 1n appearance, thoroughly practical for the purpose, easy and durable. These and other ob ects advantages will to install,
and
be comprehended from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view bmed broom and door holder.
of my com- Fig. 2 is a View of the holder secured to a wall and a broom suspended therefrom.
Fig. 3 18 a partlal view of an opened door secured by being swung upon a resilient inclined plane formed by placing the holder with the free ends of its rubber knobs looped end upon the floor Fig. 4 is a side view of and the holder and a sectional view of one of its rubber knobs where a corrugated is fitted.
offset end of the holder Like marks of reference refer to corre sponding parts in the which A represents intermediate its ends, forming a narrowed tremity of which a nail or into a wall for securing same.
different views in spring wire looped the looped portion 1 slot at the closed exscrew 2 is driven The holder at its opposite ends is somewhat spread and its ends 3 offset in parallel arrangement at right angles to the major part of the side angles of the loop and fitted with elongated rubber knobs l, between which the handle of a broom 5 or other similar article may be thrust for temporarily securing the same.
At a point near the curved or tremity with a bend looped er of the holder, the same is formed or offset 6. This offset extendsaway from the wall against which the holder is attached and out of alignment with the looped end 1 and the heels formed by the offset ends 8, and it performs a three-fold ob ject: first, it has a tendency to prevent the holder from swaying sidewise by forming a three-point contact against a wall when a screw or nail is passed through the looped extremity of the holder and driven to a seat,

elevated and form a resilient incline upon.
which a door may be swung to effect a buffer or stop, as shown in Fig. 3.
The rubber'friction knobs 4r are formed with central cavities or holes into which corrugated or roughed ends 3 of the holder are thrust, the roughening of said ends being to prevent said knobs from becoming disengaged with ordinary usage.
The objects and advantages of my improved broom and door stop will be apparent from the foregoing description.
, The device when used as a broom holder is suspended from the wall from a nail or screw driven through the eyelet-like loop to firmly secure the same to a wall, and the handle to a broom is thrust between the rubber knobs 4, the resiliency of the side memforked extremities when the rubber knobs l I are resting with their free ends upon said floor, as heretofore set forth.
From the description given, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the objects and advantages of my improved broom and doorholder will, it is believed, be fully comprehended.
Having, therefore, setforth my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is z A broom and door holder comprising a spring wire bent to form a loop having two substantially equal side members with out-- wardly extending parallel arranged offset ends, said ends being corrugated or roughened and fitted with resilient rubber knobs, substantially as set forth.
ROBERT J CRAVEN.
