ALBERT K- VEGKL XQ nes int .MAssAcJHvmnvs MMN I Q D LA 8111RPM? Application. filed lbecember This invention relates to .acombination display stand and carrying case 'for such articles of silver" as kn iyesjspoons, forks, and the like, and isan improv Inent upon the device 'illi strate d in prior appl cation, Serial No. 732, l3 2, to which reference is made sis indicating the particular type of display stand'involved herein l Vhil'e the stand shown in my prior application is v generally satisfactory for. the display, storage and convenient transportation o l these articles, In y present device, however, permits aunore' elfective display and increases convenience in storage and transportation. r
In my present stand, as inthe stand shown in my former j' applieatio r I have PF Vided a device of convenient size and weight which con'ibinesfthe functionsiof a store display permitting the ar ticlesjof silver to'be stacked vertically on end', the individual compartmerits provided forltheinp and a home storage cabinet adapted ior convenient transpoi-nation from thebufiet;to thetable. This strip is provided with a slot series alined with the slots 21 and through which the blade ends of the knives project, thereby guiding and steadying the knives in their upright position.
In the form of my invention shown in Fig. 5, I have provided a variation in which the articles of silver are disposed horizontally rather than vertically of their holder. In this figure, the holder block 25 is mounted on a fiat base 26 and is provided with a spaced series of transversely disposed slots 27 constituting pockets for the reception of knives K or forks F. Above the slot series 27, the block 25 is provided with a series of spaced vertical slots 28 constituting pockets for the reception of sorted groups of spoons S. The slots 27 and 28 thus position the articles of silver horizontally with respect to the base 26 and preferably these slots are so arranged in relation to each other that the handles of the various articles inserted therethrough will all be visible without overlapping, thus providing for the maximum effectiveness of display.
The holder shown in 5 may be used either in conjunction with the display stand shown in Figs. 1 and 4, or independently thereof.
Various other modifications in the construction and manner of use of my invention may obviously be resorted to if within the limits of the appending claims.
hat I therefore claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a device of the class described, a base, and a horizontally disposed holder supported thereon and provided with a series of spaced slots for the reception of articles of silver, and with a superposed series of spaced slots for the reception of other articles of silver disposed at right angles to said first named slot series.

3. A holder for articles of silver, comprising a pair of horizontally disposed strips arranged at different elevations to each other, the lower strip having a spaced series of vertical slots therein constituting pockets for receiving and maintaining spoons in endwise assembly, and the upper strip supporting the backs of thespoons, and a knife holder bar arranged in rear of said upper strip and provided with a series of slots along the edge thereof adjacent said upper strip to receive a plurality of knives, the handles of said knives being disposed vertically adjacent said upper strip.
4. A holder for articles of silver, consisting of a pair of spaced horizontally disposed strips arranged opposite to each other and each provided with a spaced series of vertical slots for the endwise reception of articles of silver, a pair of similarly disposed strips surmounting said first named strip pair and affording backing for the articles disposed in the slots of said first-named pair of strips, and a holder bar disposed between said last-named strip pair and vertically slotted at each edge to provide a series of pockets for the endwise reception of other articles of silver.
5. A holder for articles of silver, consisting of a pair of spaced horizontally disposed holder strips arranged opposite to eachother and each provided with a spaced series of vertical slots for the endwise reception of articles of silver, a pair of similarly disposed strips suri'nounting said first-named strip pair and affording backing for the articles disposed in the slots of said first-named pair of strips, a holder bar disposed between said last-named strip pair and vertically slotted at each edge to provide a series of pockets for the endwise reception of other articles of silver, and a guiding and steadying bar disposed beneath said holder bar and provided at each edge with slots registering with the slots of said holder bar.
