This strip is provided with a slot series alined with the slots 21 and through which the blade ends of the knives project, thereby guiding and steadying the knives in their upright position.
In the form of my invention shown in Fig. 5, I have provided a variation in which the articles of silver are disposed horizontally rather than vertically of their holder. In this figure, the holder block 25 is mounted on a fiat base 26 and is provided with a spaced series of transversely disposed slots 27 constituting pockets for the reception of knives K or forks F. Above the slot series 27, the block 25 is provided with a series of spaced vertical slots 28 constituting pockets for the reception of sorted groups of spoons S. The slots 27 and 28 thus position the articles of silver horizontally with respect to the base 26 and preferably these slots are so arranged in relation to each other that the handles of the various articles inserted therethrough will all be visible without overlapping, thus providing for the maximum effectiveness of display.
The holder shown in 5 may be used either in conjunction with the display stand shown in Figs. 1 and 4, or independently thereof.
Various other modifications in the construction and manner of use of my invention may obviously be resorted to if within the limits of the appending claims.
hat I therefore claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1.
