Referring now to the drawings in detail, particularly'to jFiguresl, 2 and 3, it will be observed that my improvements presently to be referred to are associated with la window structure ofl ordinary design consisting of a frame 10 within which upper and lower sashes 11 and 12, respectively, are slidably arranged. The frame 10 includes vertically disposed sidepieces 13 connected at their upper ends by a transverse connecting piece 14 and at their lower ends by a transverse piece 15 uponwhichrests the sill 16. Devices 17 are provided at the Vjoints between the outer side pieces 13 and the transverse pieces 14 and15 to prevent the passage' of the elements therethrough. Outer strips 21 and 22 and an intermediate strip 23 'at' eachrside ofthe frame pro- -vide the usual means 'of guiding'the sashes 11 and l2 in their sliding movement. lfn the present instance I'secure to the outerfacc of 'each intermediate strip 23 a somewhat wider but relatively thin strip'y 2l, opposite yside edges of which constitute flanges which are received A'in channels cut in the vertical Screws 25 are mediate strips 23 and upon certain of these vscrews are journaled rollers 26 which ride against adjacent faces-of bot-h sashes and thereby render the same 'easy'to raise and .The strips '24 kand the channels formed in the sashes to receive them provide a tortuous path .through which the ele- :ments must pass to Ygainaccesstot'he interior of astructure in whichthe window is located and it has been'found that a tortuous path so provided is effective to prevent such passage as is apparent.

Secured to and extending transverselyl of the upper transverse piece 14e, and in line with the upper sash, isa strip 27, while se-` curedto the sill 16, in line with the lower sash, is a similar Vstrip 28, the latter strip being provided with transverse apertures 29 to permit rain er other water to drain frein-l the inner to the outer side thereof.
